I've always been interested in how artificial intellince would affect our society, but thats too vague and I felt what might be possible in 10-20 years with our rapidly growing technological avancment might be easier to answer, since were alive then(most likely).

so post what you feel you want artificial intelligence to be like 10-20 years from now.

I want it as sofware and a commercial enterprise(a roomba that does dishes and laundry would be nice, though i doubt i could afford it unless i had a savings account i dumped into from now till then, my guess is it cost $3G+ for the first, and worst, off the shelves)

i see AI as still in the testing phase in the near future, but eventually, since humans are lazy, they will become the basis for our economy and run our lives, while we maintain "control" over them, which will ulltimently(sp?) end in our destruction if we leave it to them.

which is why i hope we never get to that point, i doubt we could control the flow of AI if it got that bad...
plus, humans are selfish, so there is bound to be some that use them for Illegal use, which would make criminal life easier, and still get the payoff of the jobs.

but thats just my op, and i am paranoid about leaving things in the hands of non-humans
although, its not like we do much better, starting wars over money and such....so maybe we are better off with them controlling us.

Commercial. I'm all for advanced roombas and auto cleaning toilets.
A.I. Gaming systems would be cool as well.

I don't want to see human shaped robots ever as it freaks me out. Kind of like dolls are creepy. Once you start getting into human shape it opens the door for all kinds creepiness.

no I think we will have control, cause unless some ditzy programmer puts a "program and debug yourself" program in the AI, they will be in constont control, the problem lies with the people who can program them and hack into them, there will most likely be a few cases of a crude"Terminator" robbing a bank or something, but laws and bills will pass and eventually it will be controllible to the point of minimal casualties. the worst problem lies with how well of a security system the government level AI's have, once a hacker wants a terminator scenerio and gets into that system, that fantasy becomes one step closer to reality
but yea sex doll AI's would be creepy, just imagine crazy stalker guy with a robot copy of you,

Edit: AI is in testing phase now, they already created a "fearful learning" AI program, it avoids unknown objects, but checks them out as slowly as possible, then learns if its safe or not, then just jearns everything it can from the object(similar to an animal checking out something new and stationary)
it has the intelligence of a rodent, but that is a massive step toward "true" artificial intelligence.

I'm not sure if this is a hoax or not, but using a program that allows for learning, they had robots playing different games, like passing a ball from one to another, then to a goal, and so on so forth. eventually(pretty quickly though) they were playing soccer and coming up with stratigies to win. The intelligence was to low to compare to an organic counterpart though. (kinda why I think its a hoax, I didn't find this info myself, someone told me. but the other one has several pages about it when i google artificial intelligence, several differant sites too.

I'd rather imagine a sex doll modded into a terminator. I can totally see someone doing it.

yea true, a sex toy terminator would be vicious if it was realistic enough, or the guy/girl didn't care. probably would be something like ones made to look 13 and catch cyber predators. they would be programmed to handle like a police officer and have handcuffs on hand, or something to that effect. or ones to tempt rapists and people looking for hookers. man, that kind of "she's not a (insert slang for robot cop) is she?" constant thought running through the head would probably slow down criminals

And if someone hacked into a sex doll mid use, I think the user would suddenly find himself in a painful situation. Worst place to be when skynet starts running.

I'd just like to see my computer be able to do calculus for me.

for me, i would like artificial intelligence to scanslate high quality manga. just goes, downloads raws of what genres i like, and translates, cleans, and puts the manga into my folder with a little "what i downloaded for you" sub-folder.

Does no one else believe that AI should be used for plugging in complex math equations? Btw nice avatar... 😔

It's already used for that. That's why we're not bringing it up as the future of AI. Also, it's not so much intelligence for a computer to run through equations.

Well that still requires a lot of human intellegence to program the computer with the algorithms necessary to pull off those functions. What i mean is just pose a problem to the computer and let it create it's own algorithims to figure out the problem.

thanks for that lol, I was waiting on xombie not u to say that 😛 . I guess synthetic human beings would make great sex objects, tho the moral ramifications is honestly too much to think about. Would this AI be a clone? essentially a biological robot? Or like the female terminator that has human skin covering robotic parts? Still I'd rather be screwing a clone than a metalic robot...

Artificial intelligence? in the next 10-20 years?!
If you mean technological AL, I very much doubt that it's possible, even with edvance of today's morden tech'..
