artificial intelligence, what do you want it to be like?

no just machines/programs that can do tasks without costant human supervision effectively, more or less just computers that can learn and have opinions, i kinda think artificial life is impossible for the next century or two, emotions won't be real from any AI soon, i think. though they could learn how people react to situations and more or less "fake" emotions, like laughing at what is supposed to be a joke or as sex toys faking joy, ectasy, ect.

I dont see it being anything spectacular, though I want it to be capable of understanding and converting the abstract thought of humans into something a computer can understand. That would basically allow a human computer voice/video interface that would allow a person to tell a computer a relatively specific task to complete and the computer would be capable of understanding what that person wants done to a degree that would almost match the understanding another human would have for the same request.
So a command like "computer, remove the background from behind the person in this photograph" would mean the same thing to a computer that it would to a person.

I picked 'Other'. Why? Because I would like to be a trillionaire and buy them all, then take over the world. >:} Sadly, you didn't have that as an option.
(This wouldn't fit the iRobots/Terminator scenario because they aren't going rampant. I'm controlling them. =D -Nods-
If I wasn't rich, I'd like them not to be used in jobs(that'd totally mess up our economy.), but to be used for simple things; getting farther on a game, cleaning, and cooking.

Robots working in jobs would only mess up the economy because the world is overpopulated. But then again as long as we can produce enough food and shelter, economy would become the entertainment industry (art, music, movies, etc) since the robots would take care of the essential work. I see it having some strange effects economically, but I dont really think it would damage the economy that much (as long as everything is controlled by the government at least).

Maybe it wouldn't damage the economy but I see everyone being over wieght if that were to happen.

I see it totally different especially since by that time we should have managed to create drugs to immitate the hormones that control hunger.

I see it messin' up bad. The robots, being better at most hard-labor jobs then humans, would get all the bottom of the line jobs, getting completely rid of our lower class. Next we can see us making them more intelligent, and when that happens, they take over the middle class job section. Then you have millions of people out of work. They gamble/drink/use all their money away, and then become poor and kicked out of their homes.
And that throws the economy into chaos. The only thing that could make it different is A. The robots didn't take jobs that were already manned properly. or B. They killed off most of the population.

Possible future scenario by using TV/Movie/Game with AL/Robot that i can think of right now:
- The MATRIX TRILOGY (Movie) - [The Matrix,The Matrix Reloaded,The Matrix Revolutions, and The Animatrix]
- Halo TRILOGY (Game)
- Star War TRILOGY (Movies,Games,Books)
- Star Trek TRILOGY (TVs,Books)
- I,Robot (Movie,Books)
- Futurama (TVs)
- Andromeda (TV)
- Terminator TRILOGY (Movies)
There are other but i too lazy to type it right now (cuz there too many)
able to calculate and predict the change of currencies in future

"I am who I am because of who we all are"

with small enough hard drives and with a decently-intelligent AI, nanobots that go into your body and remover cancer and tumors would be a possibility, of course you would have to have like 10,000gigs+ in a chip the size of a cell's nucleus just to hold enough information about the ENTIRE human anotomy, so until were at least shopping for laptops with about 140,737,488,355,328 terabytes, that's not gonna happen. thogh if it did, i wonder if nanobots that mess with your brain chemisty would be selled as narcotics 😕
the government would probably put a ban on AI workers doing things that humans can do. there probably aren't too many company's that would mind paying a one-time fee of $50,000 or so for a lifetime worker, though the military might just have a few handy.
i wonder if Japan would take over the AI business like the tv buisness 😕 or maybe robots(the vaccum kind) would eventually be cheap enough to see them on rollback at wal-mart, people would have robots "grinding" for them on rpgs and stuff.
