Only if we're taking about a woman in their 20s and above looking like an elementary school kid, regardless of genre.

Even real people sometimes dont look their age... so 😀 its not bad as long as it doesnt go over board ... like a 30 year old looking 15 or something.

for me, i think it depends on the story..
i gotta admit, i've read so many mangas with this theme where the guy or the girl looks older or younger than their age suppose to be.. i happen to be laughing sometimes when i tried to compare them with the guys around me... but the 16 or 17 years old guys around me looks like 'veggie' (or immature) to me... everytime i read mangas with the super cool guy that was actually 16 but acts like a grown adult always amuse me... lol, i can't imagine my 16 years old little brother end up like that (eventhough he tried to ^^)
anyway, there are a few mangas that i like with the false lolita charac.. i just can't help it if it's okay with the plot of the story.. 😀

I'm with characters not looking their age as long as it goes with the story or it isn't to drastic of a difference. I am 19 but I look 14 so I can relate....

I used to lenient about character age but it really depends on the story. WAYYYYY too many artists try to get away with overly young/old looking characters these days and its actually gotten annoying. (Is drawing middle-aged characters in manga THAT unpopular?)

Haha BL fan here and I've gotta say that the characters in BL manga rarely ever look their age, they either look too old or (more frequently) too young! Currently I'm reading a manga that has a character whose age is 30 but people believe he's 18. 🤣

What happen to the "i could't care less" option?

Jk. All the cases annoy me. 14 looking 25, 50 looking 18, 500 looking 10, it all suck...

But i try not to pay attention to it.

well it depends if the ch is in like 30s 40s 50s etc and looks like a preteen then ya that is too much but in real life its hard to tell some ppl age too like me ive looked the same since 16 and ppl use to think i was around 25 ( im 5' 9''-10'' wide shoulders and have a beard i do judo so i have decent muscle definition so i look older) im now 22 and still look the same just a little bigger and ppl still think im in my late 20s. also many older asians look younger then they are especially males who keep fit, i know a guy who is 44 and can pass for a 24 year old.
when it comes to ch that are 150+ years then it dose not matter any more because it cant happen, and if magic is involved same thing.

Quote from Cherelle Ashlee

I don't mind it, but I don't like when in some shoujos, all the girls including the mc are complete washboards in highschool. Also, when only the guys look mature and the girls look like a 10 year old.

Also, I don't know if anyone notice, but I don't like it when their parents look like highschool ...

I have to agree... sometimes the girls look so much younger than the boys, I sometimes have to wonder if it looks like that in real life. But it doesn't bother me that much, especially when the boys look so HOT!! haha... but the parents, Oh yeah, I have noticed. They look so young, I thought once before, that they just married early.

Hagu from Honey and Clover. She is killing the anime for me right now.

It gets annoying most of the time but I can bear with it if the story is good.
I've never read it but I've run across a manga that I can't remember where there is an elementary school kid who looks like he's 20 lol. Looks too ridiculous for me to read >>
Also some characters from Wolf Guy - Ookami no Monshou look like they're 40 but are supposed to be in middle school...

Yes... and no.

First of all, what exactly do you mean "look their age"?
Is not looking like what is socially accepted as the way to look at age xx is somehow "wrong"?... Not to mention the differences between cultures/regions, especially where children are concerned.
When going by drawing alone, could you draw a character so that it's clear you're looking at someone who is 25 years old... and not 30 or 20? I can imagine this is something quite hard to do, especially when doing this in b/w cartoon style (quick and easy characters).

I don't mind it when characters don't look their "exact" age (whatever that is), but they should somehow be in their age "group" (child/teenager/young-adult/adult/"post?"-adult/old).
Manga with characters drawn as 14 year old kids when they actually are full adults (>20), or the other way around, can be a bit annoying... especially when done as a fetish or when there's no deeper meaning to it... Slapping big boobs on them does not help, but makes it even worse.

Hagu from Honey and Clover. She is killing the anime for me right now.

I found her acceptable, she was drawn on the "young" but still realistically possible side, but not annoyingly so (mostly due to lack of pantyshots). Story would not have worked as good if she was drawn larger/older.

ESPECIALLY in shounen or yaoi. In yaoi the "30" year old men can look 13 (ew), and in Shounen the girl that looks 17 is like, 11. Both are just creepy. If it's just a shoujo where the girl looks a little young, then whatever.
