Description
Ms. Aoshika is not only divorced, but an underappreciated teacher at her job. But one drunken mishap leads her to witness firsthand the brutal assault and murder of a young man. However, after fainting, she awakens to discover that all of the assailants have been seriously wounded.

And to her further surprise, the next day she discovers that not only is the young man, Akira, she met the night before alive, but he is now her new transfer student.

This series is based off of a combination of the Wolf Guy manga and novel with aspects from "Adult Wolf Guy" (that's actually what it's called "アダルト・ウルフガイ") as well.

{ "Wolf Guy - Ookami no Monshou" is a modern adaptation of "Wolf Guy (SAKAGUCHI Hisashi)" with a more violent and mature setting. }

Heavy shit by BladeAP on July 26th, 2010, 9:02pm

this manga is ridiculously good. the amount of gore compliments the action and deviant plot so well! I really wish it was scanlated/released faster. Alas, nothing can be done about that....

Interesting and awesome by JuggaloWarrior on July 2nd, 2010, 8:32pm

I find this series to be far more graphic than the author's previous series "Akumetsu" but at the same time less repetitive than that one. Characters are pretty cool and the artwork fits the theme pretty well. Hopefully, there will be a happy ending for Inugami and Aoshika but given all the dark foreboding settings, sadly that may not happen. Regardless, its a great series and comes highly recommended.

i dont know why i like this by freko_frika on June 25th, 2010, 8:38am

the art is really good....although it is very graphic for my liking...i guess the only saving grace aside from the good art is the impending romance between the two leads...i find it endearing...all i can say you'll enjoy it if you can take in the err graphic-ness and brutality of men...

Cliched, yet not so cliched. by jrdragon2003 on May 11th, 2010, 7:07am

This story is a rather interesting one. what makes it so interesting is it's make up. It has the usual cliches we would see in mangas however considering it is a werewolf story it doesn't have the usual cliches involved in that kind of story. For instance when everyone thinks of werewolves, we always think of a berserk half man half beast, but in this story that's not the case. Inugami is highly intelligent, even more so when he transforms into a werewolf. Then there is his non-confrontational attitude as a wolf as well. It is very unlike unusual werewolf stories I've ever seen like "American Werewolf in London" as an example. He's an extremely calm and collected character for being a werewolf. The story is very complex, yet not at the same time. In all honesty this is probably one of the few stories where you really would have to give it time to get through and see it's true beauty. But in order to do that though you still have to keep in mind that it's looks are slightly deceiving. What seems the same to us all the time is not necessarily so in regards to this story since it's a side that hasn't really been done before in regards to the werewolf genre.

Repetitive, No Movement in Plot; Wasted Art Talent by MightyMaeve on April 28th, 2010, 8:52am

The art was vivid, dark and dramatic, if clichéd. Alas, the story was so repetitive and lacking in substance, curiosity and movement that I had to force myself to finish the first two volumes in order to give it a fair try.

I'm still waiting...... by asrodeia on April 23rd, 2010, 9:10pm

From the previous comments, I can get that most of you are upset with the lack of maturity...

From me though.
The art is great, I have no issues. 3 1/3 out of 3 1/3...
Portrayal:
WHY ARE THEY IN MIDDLE SCHOOL?!?!?!?! They do NOT belong there... ok, Haguro is 15, but didn't he stay back or something? This is unrealistic, and ridiculous. I have never read the original, however, so that may have been the choice of the original author, and one that really doesn't fit... anyway.
They SHOULD have been the same age as Shou etc. form Akumetsu. 17/18. That would have REALLY helped. Because no matter how much I try to ignore it, it keeps coming up.
However, that aside(if we just pretend they are 17/18), It portrays the idiocy of humans, and how we go so far to be accepted, to conform. It shows how much we care about how others think of us. Not so much now that I am in college (people have matured, THANK GOD), but in high school I was very sensitive to other peoples opinions. so, thats that.
So, that knocks 3 1/3 down to 2.5 so far.
Current total:5.83333/6.6667.
I can't remember what my third topic was going to be, So I'm just going to rate this a 7.5 til I think of it again.

I recommend Akumetsu, and you will probably like it better that this.... In fact, even if you hated this, you should still give Akumetsu a try, because it was original (It was before death note, and only loosely related to that theme anyway. In fact forget that. Just don't compare them...) and because it really gets you thinking. MUCH more than this.

This is, in my opinion of course, significantly inferior to Akumetsu. But I can see that the story is still just getting started, so I'm willing to give it a chance....

@Guerilla:
Narration is very important. You know how ANNOYING it is to not know what is going on? Read Blame. Granted, you weren't really MEANT to know what was going on in Blame, that's just part of the 'Nihei style', but this is different, and I appreciate knowing what is going on in these adult/teen hybrids here.

NOTE: the clean version was hilarious!

I still liked it by YulieAna on April 15th, 2010, 9:08am

I agree that the violence and sexism is over the top, but the story does not lack in depth and character development. Inugami's contradictory attitude was a bit off where he tried to avoid fights and be low key only by provoking the gangs with his tough-ass attitude. That's now how you act when you want to be low-key.

However, the change in his attitude is a nice development, along with his obvious interest in the teacher. As long as the character development continues to unfold, I don't mind the exaggerated violence.

And as far as originality goes, everything has already been done before - the guns, the gangs, the werewolves. Cliches are unavoidable.

Hmm. by xeternalrose on March 30th, 2010, 9:26pm

I can't really speculate on what I actually think of this manga yet.. Sure, it IS a bit vulgar in some areas but I don't know. I find Inugami to be an interesting character along with the teacher. There's just something about those two that I find "attractive." There seems to be a story somewhere so I'm just gonna wait and see what will happen next. But there's some seriously beautiful artwork here. Nothing like I've ever seen before, really.

Something MUST Be Wrong With Me by gigantor21 on March 23rd, 2010, 7:16pm

Spoiler (highlight to view)
Wolf Guy…what a strange beast it is. I find myself captivated by it in spite of its glaring, myriad flaws.

The series is shameless in its gratuity--almost pornographic, really. The author can't go one volume without showing Ms. Aoshika’s tits, or attempted rape, or someone jizzing themselves. Likewise with the violence; there's a masochistic undertone to the beatings Inugami takes, seeing how pointlessly brutal they are.

Clearly, this is a Seinen suffering from Sekirei Syndrome--there are several more mature series done far more tastefully. A lot of the graphic elements feel tacked on for little more than shock value.

None of the characters are particularly original or appealing. Some are interesting—Haguro and his slutty girlfriend come to mind—but only for being so over-the-top and unrelatable. Inugami himself is an unlikeably pompous bastard; Ms. Aoshika’s only interesting traits are A) her massive tits, B) getting raped when she was younger, and C) her pedophilic, fanservicey lust for Inugami.

The plot feints in potentially interesting directions…but it’s usually centered around Inugami being a jerkass, getting knocked around, turning into a wolf, and pretending he doesn’t want to fuck his teacher. The author tries mightily to make him seem relatable, but it’s all stuff we’ve seen before (“He was born under an unlucky star! He’s scared of trusting people! He’s an alienated youth in a non-traditional family setting!”).

And yet.

Given all that, of the half-dozen non-Jump series I’m reading, it’s the only manga I’ve marathoned and caught up with. Vinland Saga, in contrast, was vastly superior right out of the gate, and I’m still content reading a chapter a day. Why is that?

The incredible artwork, for one thing. It’s a damn shame the artist is being wasted on such a crappy story—there are several stunning moments throughout the work. One can only imagine the things they could do with a more capable partner.

But beyond that, it’s basically popcorn. For all the story’s flaws and preachy pretentiousness, it’s fun to just sort of breeze through it with your brain turned off and enjoy the ride.

Thus, while every instinct tells me to say otherwise, I can’t give this any less than a 7.5.

I don't know why... by milque on March 21st, 2010, 8:33am

I mean, this manga is so unshamefully over the top. Inugami is this invincible yet deeply troubled angsty teenager, and Ms. Aoshika is this teacher who has extremely disproportionate body parts that it's not even funny (in the latest chapters her bo0bs are so huge to the point of distraction). Throw in some middle school gangsters, a middle school s|ut, a LOT of gratuitous naked scenes and very detailed violence and Wolf Guy is what you get. The whole manga (so far) is one big bag of cliche. The art is the only thing it's got going for it.

I can list ten, no, TWENTY things that make this manga suck, but God knows why I can't stop reading it. Is it the bare and simple plot? Is it the awesome art? Whatever it is, I keep getting back to this piece of crap for new releases. Shame on me.
