Lately I've been reading only slice-of-life series. Somehow they have this soothing and calming effect for me. And I also never feel like I have to read all of the chapters in one day. I can just read some chapters, and then read some other chapters a week later without missing anything. 😮

So do you like the slice-of-genre as well? If so, why? If not, ... why? :'( Please, explain.

I do.
A lot.
Because it's calming and peaceful... And sometimes I just want to relax without too many overbearing plots...
I like those every once in a while.

I'm always happy when a new slice of life series comes out, or has a release.
My fav manga is YKK, mind you. 🤨
And I have it highlighted. ^^

I had my "hunt for slice of life manga" not too long ago, as well. :3

I like the genre a lot, since sometimes I can understand the characters more clearly, and I feel that if I understand the characters' actions and feelings then the manga-ka is doing a job worth of praises.
I also agree, it is calming and soothing and sometimes the plot makes so much sense than the ones in shounen and shoujo.
I can pretty much say that it's become one of my favorite genres because they cause an impact on my behavior and on how I view life.

Yes, sometimes.

My two favorite slice of life series are Yotsuba&! and Azumanga Daioh. I think they capture perfectly the whole nothing-happening thing, while still being engaging and funny.

I don't like all slice of life series though. Recently I read one (I forget the name) that was so slow-paced it was difficult to take =__=
They tried to make the characters interesting but it just didn't happen for me. There's a difference between calming and putting people to sleep 🤨

I prefer slice of life to most other genres, especially in one shots. Its short and to the point, and often realistic. This is something I usually look for in everything I read. 😐

SoL can be boring for me at times or even if the art isn't good. Since there's no macguffin, or hook to draw me in, it depends on the art.

I really like Hyakko and Kimi to Boku, but I haven't really read enough of in to get in to it.

Personally, it is the one of the few genres that I enjoy whenever I read a manga.

The reason I like the "Slice of Life Genre" is because the stories are relaxed and calm, can be funny on some occassions and once in a while, a situation that is resolved by thinking instead of fighting.

Well, that's pretty much it.

I personally love the SoL genre. Sometimes, its really nice to take a break from the actiony drama filled plot lines and just read a nice normal story. but i have trouble finding a lot of them on the site that i use to read manga. 😔

Slice of Life is definitely in my top 2 or 3 favorite genres when it comes to manga. Generally, it's either an attempt at a relaxing feel or an attempt at a story that's more grounded in reality, and I'm a fan of either type, although Asano Inio's SoL stuff, Yotsubato! and ARIA really steal the show.

I like them, but I won't go actively searching for it. If it shows up in a manga, I'm like, "Whatever". Its sometimes boring, though, depending on the manga. Slice of LIfe is hard to do right; do it wrong, and its utterly boring.

I used to read a lot of shounen when I was younger but lately I find myself dropping alot of the ongoing series i used to read (bleach etc) to read more seinen/slice of life stuff.
Azuma Kiyohiko's Yotsubato and Azumanga Daioh are really good but my favourite is probably Planetes, which has a very slice of life feeling at the begining.

I guess I'm just growing up :s

Well, it's one of my favorite genres as well, as people said before, it's relaxing and it's interesting as well as it's more colorful than the other genres, at least for me.

Yes! Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou for instance is one of the best comics ever created. That is not an IMO but a fact. 😀 😎
