Let's talk about your reasons for/against it, experiences, personal time records for pumping out half a litre of blood, conspiracy theories involving vampires and anything else on the topic.

Personally, I donated three times so far, more or less regularly.

Reasons: The food they give is usually tasty. Also to contribute.

Experiences: Maybe a little lightheadedness afterwards, nothing close to fainting.

Sadly I can't recall how long it last took me to pump out half a litre of blood, but I will have an update on that next month.

The blood donating van comes to my school once every year. There's two requirements:

  1. You have to be 16.
  2. You have to be the recommended weight.
When the van came, I fit neither of the criteria. Now I'm 16, I still don't fit the criteria (I'm quite lightweight...but quite muscular from Judo).
I'd love to donate my blood, but I hate needles...T.T Those sharp pointy things...shudder And also I'm blood type A; not in demand. I'd be more useful if I was O.

I don't do needles.

And even if, I most likely would not... as I like keeping my blood where it's supposed to be.

In our school you have to be 18 to donate blood. If I was I would, although I hate needles... 😐

this somehow would give me the feeling that I was useful, at least a little... and the food is also a point of course 🤣 so I'm looking forward to trying it, strange right?

Although I'd love to contribute something, I can't since I don't even have enough blood for myself. Besides, I'm slightly underweight. I remember the only times that I needed to pump out blood were for malaria and other disease tests.

Yeah, I've done it 20+ times. Used to do it regularly, but started having trouble with low iron so now I can only do it once every year or so.

Reasons: not a lot I can do to help out, but I am (was) pretty good at making blood & the donation process has always been easy for me.

Experiences: I've never ever had a problem with them finding a vein or with feeling bad after, but I did drip blood all over the floor once when they didn't get the bandage on quite right. These days I often get stopped at the part where they check your iron level, which really sucks.

Time: Eh...never really kept track, but I think around 4 minutes? I'm usually done with that part sooner than people who started before me. I have big fat surface veins on the inside of my elbows so getting a vein is easy & the blood flow is good.

If I think about it too hard, the needle creeps me out, so I just don't watch that part & don't think about it. 🤣

Yes I've donated on several occasions when my highschool had those donation drives. Although the bad thing about it is that I kept getting questioned about my weight. In order to donate, you have to be over 110lbs, and I told them I was 110lb but they don't believe me >_>

It's all in the past now but I still donate once in a while when there are donation drives on campuses.

I'm okay with needles too! I've been getting shots and IV drips all my life, so I'm quite use to it, but if my blood can help someone, then it's okay. :3

A donation van also comes to my school. When I finally fit the requirements (being 16), I tried to donate, but my veins were apparently too small for the needles or something 😔

The next year I tried again, this time making sure I was extra hydrated, and it worked, but barely. They kept having to make sure they weren't rupturing a vein.

It was an annoying, long process, especially for someone like me who hates needles, but hey, I like the food.

I would donate blood if I didn't have problems with my veins. Every time someone tries to take some of my blood to examine it, it starts pouring out of my vein and splashing all over the room. It's not a very nice experience, for me and for the nurses, not to mention other patients.
Also, I have the most common and the most useless blood type. If I had a rare blood type I would probably take the risk and donate blood... to help people and to get that huge amount of chocolate 🙂

haven't done it. too much effort.

I might do it in the future though, It's not like I oppose donating blood, it's one of those things that has to be done.

But as I mentioned earlier: Effort.

I did it once, thinking on doing it again soon.

Quote from Dissidence

Reasons: The food they give is usually tasty. Also to contribute.

Experiences: None except from some hunger, yeah I love to eat 😉

Time: Around 10min I believe

I went to donate blood this very morning, i do it every 3 months since i'm 0 negative and i am the most requested.
I never had any problem with the donation itself, sometimes afterward i'm a bit dizzy for a couple of minutes, but nothing worse.

When I turn 18 I'll start doing it. Well if the doctor says it's okay of course.
