My school runs similar to Spawnblade's. You need a signed note from your parents or any other documents. The teachers (seriously) keep it for proof/legal school stuff (I dunno what they do with them). Every period we go to has a roll check. You get marked truant if you're not at your class without a proper reason. I get a few marked absences every week from being absent from class because of music lessons. >.<

Depends on your school's policy, but really, the act of skipping itself isn't that big a deal... it might be an experience worth having for you, but if you're just going to fret and feel guilty all day then don't bother. It would just a be a waste of time, you wouldn't have fun, and the day would just be downer for the other kid.

I live in a third world country and if you think skipping school for 1 day is serious, you should see what elementary school kids do around here.

My teachers don't give a damn if I go to class or not, I don't feel like I need to go to school most of the time anyway cos I can learn what they (are supposed to) teach on my own. So yeah 🤣

I started skipping school in my 7th year, it turned into a habit at my 9th year and I kept skipping every few days until I graduated.

But in your place it must be something really serious. So don't do it for the sake of your friend. But if you're gonna do it, it's your call.

My parents are old-school asians, so punctuality and school morals have been stamped into my brain and I've never skipped classes... in high school. College is a completely different story. If you're going off to college, you'll probably end up skipping then, so if you're worried about missing out on your youth and you're going to college, you still have another four years after high school, don't worry.

Also, my school would call home and leave a message if it wasn't excused, precise to the period.

But like you said, it's your pick. If you have a good friend, then whether you skip or not should not change his opinion of you.

We call skipping class either "playing hooky" or just plain "skipping." I never heard the term "wagging" either...

I would say it depends on how easy it is for you to get caught, and the consequences if you do. If you don't mind getting into trouble by all means go for it.
I think I've skipped once or twice, can't really remember.
I'd recommend that you don't though. It's not really that fun, especially if you're worrying that you're going to get caught the whole time.
I dunno are you the sort of person that worries about getting into trouble?

Yeah perhaps it's a British term. I dunno if they use it anywhere else, but that's what most people I know call it. We also call it "skiving" as well, but bunking is more commonly used.

Son, do your studies properly.
Wagging for 1 day is only fun that day,
but learning something at school 1 day
will benefit you for longer.

Never heard of Bunking, at my school if people were skipping school/class you would say they were "Wagging it" or if you were asking someone to skip you would say "wana wag it"

Guess it depends where in the UK you are because I've never heard of wagging where I'm from.

In my country skipping school is a norm (although usually all people in the class do it), and my school wasn't very strict about it, so I don't understand being concerned about skipping school just once...

Still, if you really don't want to do this and you think you'll get into serious trouble, then don't. Don't let others decide about things you do 🙂
