Yeah, I don't get it quite myself. But hey, the best pieces of literature allow your own interpretation of things. 😛
Either it really was his child, and they mistook the father of the baby. Or it signified a new beginning for him? Like being reincarnated or something. @_@ doesn't know either

I thought of it being his child, but never considered the new beginning thing, thanks for your input!

The "What the hell, it looks just like him" thing is confusing, isn't it?
Those are the last thoughts of the guy who dies. If you read the manga carefully you'll see that all of the side thoughts belong to him. Maybe he didn't believe that Aya cheated on him and kept hoping the child was his? But in the end the kid really looked like Taku-chan.
That's what I think, anyway. The whole reincarnation theory isn't bad, either.

I think it really was his child. She even tried to tell him in one of the flashbacks, but his response was somewhat childish. Maybe she thought then he wasn't the right one for her.
She seeked comfort, and the closest male around was his brother. .___. And now she wants his brother to raise up his child together with her.
... Maybe. xD

But wasn't that flashback years before hand? I thought they new each other in high school or something and she was just babbling....
But I think your answer is more possible.

There's two versions of this oneshot, right? Because the one I read, he, the main character, the one who offs himself, thinks the baby looks like him, which makes a better ending.
I personally really, really loved the ending, because his death was pointless, in the end, right? He thought his world was like crashing down on him, but then as he's dying, he looks at the baby, and thinks, "It looks just like me," meaning it most likely was his. So fantastic. It's great.

i got the ending.
his brother had an secret affair with aya, and his brother said the baby was his. since the main character thought the baby was his little brother, he shot and killed himself. but as it turned out, the main character was really the father of the baby....
so he killed himself for nothing
it`s pretty sad once you think about it.

if there brothers there's really no way to tell who the child belongs to if you just look at the kid, they have the same gens.

meh, iono if i was in his shoes, regardless of who the baby daddy is, i'd probably shoot myself too. that's a fvcked up situation, and the ass tried to make him feel guilty with that whole son of a murderer thing(makes you wonder why the fvck he joined a gang in the first place).

I kind of wonder how old his brother is, he looks like 14? and the main character looks 25? and that one girl....23? The younger brother and that one girl seem like a really pedophile like couple XD

Kinda really unrelated to the ending, however, are they actually brothers? I thought it was like the one guy only called the main character that because of brother in the sense of the gang. Not, like, blood related.
And I figured they were about the same age... and like friends.

Well, all the theories sound plausable, and I personally think that the baby was the main guy's. But I think the point of the strange ending is probably to show that you shouldn't jump to any conclusions and make rash decisions. It fits, because if the kid *was * the main guys, then the brother and girlfriend jumped to the conclusion that it was the younger brother's. Then, when he shot himself, he had jumped to the conclusion that they were right and that he had no way out. Because then, he (possibly) left the kid without a father, and the reader never really knows the truth.
I dunno... maybe I'm just looking too much into it, but that's how I see it at the moment.
