Moritana and Ares were discussing the finer points or bullying and it's repercussions in another thread. Perhaps we can continue this debate in a more civilized manner in the proper forum (this one)

My take on bullying -

People who are bullies tend to be the result of previous bullying. I used to get picked on in Elementary for being -ahem- a little sensitive [ read: Crybaby] - Then in Jr. High ( I was 7th grade) I began the collegiate wrestling and martial arts outside of school. I got more fit and a lot meaner and decided I could now use my powers for evil instead of good. I would pick on the 6th graders and push them around and laugh and taunt people. But then in Gym class (I was put in older gym class for wrestling) the 8th and 9th graders would bully me and choke me out and generally make my life hell (ever had to go the office naked cuz someone stole all your clothes?). So what could I do? I tell you.... I beat up more 6th and 7th graders! LOL

I get bullied, and I think almost everyone gets bullied sometime in their short life.
I mainly get bullied because there's only 1 percent Asian in my school. So like I'm the only Asian person in the class.

Um, Sorry you get bullied Ares! Let's have some details! I remember you know Chinese language (you are Chinese heritage, right?) You should pretend you know Karate. Most people assume all Asians know Karate or Kung Fu. Pretend like you gonna do touch of death on the bully and they may leave you alone.

Also, I am not a bully anymore! Jr. High was 15 years ago for me and I haven't picked on a 6th grader since then. I was not a bully in High School either. I had become Captain of Wrestling Club and as such I had to act in a responsible manner cuz I was Sempai to a bunch of guys that were learning ways to hurt people! It would have been completely irresponsible of me to promote that sort of behavior.

I am mostly a nerd now anyways, I am still in good shape, but wears glasses and reads manga and plays video games. To see a nerd bullying someone would be laughable.

Pleez don't beat me up.

First day of school. Well after school, a bunch of seniors gangs up on my in the bus station and attempts to rob me. Almost did. Second day of school. Another bunch of seniors throws eggs at me. Didn't get though. all missed. Third day of school. My friend and I were walking to the bus station, he gets hit by a bunch of kids with bats and was sent to the emergency room. 4 broken ribs and an inflammation. He switched school, while I remained at the same school. And then I made some friends and eventually graduated form High School without getting beaten. yay.....

I'm not sure. Hmmm....I don't know why they did that. Could it be there was only 15 Asian in the whole school and I was walking alone? I don't looks geeky. I don't wear glasses and I don't wear geeky cloth. Since when does a bully need a reason to fight? They act on impulses. They can't control their instinct for violence. A weakness if you ask me.

What did you do to attract the baseball bats? I went to School in San Fernando (Outside of Los Angeles) and we have a huge gang population at my high school. Basically, before a person can be expelled from Los Angeles School District, the administration can give them an OT (Opportunity Transfer) to another school within the district. My school was known as the OT school that would accept an OT student from anywhere. We had several shootings and some stabbings and gang attacks all the time. Thing is though, I never heard of bullying going on to the degree of baseball bats against nerds. Most of the violence was "gang on gang" violence. Once when I was in 10th grade the wrestling team fought a large group of 18th street gangsters. Also we had a brawl in the locker room between Football and Wrestling. That was a lot of fun. Half the Football team gets suspended for 2 days only and the wrestling team almost gets kicked out of the CIF league and they consider to OT all the wrestlers - even ones who weren't at the fight!(The school always supported the football team and never the wrestling team)

We had a small group of some Asian gangs, um Asian Boys and RPB (Real Pinoy Brotherhood) they would attract a lot of heat from the Latin gangs (Maras Salvatruchas and 18th street). Perhaps if you are too sporty you look like an Asian gangter and that's why they target you?

Glad you graduated peacefully and moved on Ares! Hope you aren't bullied anymore!

Edit: I did not go to San Fernando High school, BTW (I hear their campus is much safer than mine was) - I went to another School in the San Fernando Valley.

I don't respond well to bullies, and I usually go over the top. I got 2 weeks out of school suspension for macing someone who attempted to beat me up (The teacher stopped it).

My parents were more annoyed that I stole a bottle of mace from them, though.

Here's the problem. My high school was top 10 among the city......if it's top 10 and people are getting bullied, what happens if you attend schools below it.....my God. That brings a question to as, how save are our schools?
