So what makes you fall in love with a person? I do mean LOVE, not just initial attraction. Assume that you have already met someone that you are attracted to. What would turn that attraction into all-out love?

As in, what characteristics in a person make you seriously want them in your life? You know, the personality traits that make you emotionally infatuated with them (not just physically), or the characteristics that make you think about them all the time, and miss them when they're gone, and feel happier when they're around. Have you noticed any common traits among the people you've fallen in love with, so far? Any trends/similarities among the loves of your life? Etc.

Now, I know that many people would prefer to choose a combination of answers from the poll, but I'm asking you to choose your MOST preferred answer. For some people, common interests might be the most important factor that makes real love possible after an initial physical/romantic attraction. For others, it might be intelligence or a high IQ.

Please feel free to discuss your preferences/answers below, as well. What does make you fall in love? (And for those of you that haven't been in love yet but think that you're capable of it, what would make you fall in love, do you think?)

For me, it's definitely the second option - 'a heart of gold'. Someone who lives their life with honesty and dignity, who can treat people with compassion and tenderness but still has a spine of steel when it comes to standing up for their most cherished moral beliefs. I'd go to the ends of the earth for someone like that...! Doesn't matter if they're not a genius, or if they aren't very 'sweet' and 'charming', or even if they're slightly messed-up. A genuinely good heart wins mine faster than anything else. <3

Though I have been in love I never missed her (I've never missed anyone or anything as far as i know, I just do not understand that feeling) but when she was close I were extremly selfconsius but I eventully managed to subdue my feelings and got rid of them.

I actually have no idea. I just want someone who likes me and doesn't have any seriously bad problems... like a serial killer or maniac. I've never been in love (heck, I've never even been on a date...) 🤢 and I don't really believe in love at first sight but I guess eventually I'll know what i want. I'm still young.

I guess I really don't know what makes me fall in love, it just happens? But usually, I tend to like guys that can make me laugh(which is not that hard). But for love.....just...someone I can open up to. Someone I can comfort and who can comfort me. We need to get along, first of all, then the "falling" part will follow eventually. Though what really makes me fall for a guy is seeing his "cool" side. Not the snobby kind of "cool". What I mean is...for example, a guy is, say, really good at a sport, like pool. If I'm watching him play and it really impresses me, then it's hard to say that I won't fall for him at least a little bit.

My story how i fell in love with a girl and didnt get anything back:

Met her at faculty same class and stuffl; she invited me to come to her dorm (or how u write it) tomorow(to talk a bit); From then on i slept over at her place 2-3 times and when i wanted to do something she said we were only friends; So (i was already in love with her) i listend to her and still saw her every day (like gay friend) ; After 6months started to get a litle bit away from her (spend like 12 hours a day with her till then); Started to hate her for what she made of me after 1 year; Didnt speak to her for a full year couse i quit faculty; Heard from her after 1 year again (she has a boyfriend), didnt here from here for another 6 months; She invite me to her graduation; Went there spent 5 minutes talking to here and realised i still know more about here and what she does when she is happy or sad then anyone around her(there was here boyfriend right by me)

She started speaking to me like nothing happedn in the last 1 and a half or 2 years that we didnt speak that much; Went to her apartmant after 5 mounths after that to find out she is still the same; And for her to again after speaking 5 mins with me to starts explaining how her boyfriend spends money around like its nothing(we bouth had to earn to study and it was hard) and thats her boyfriend she is with for like more then a year and she is living with him in his apartmant...

So again i started to feal like im close to her but becouse of her in a relationship and we being "friends" i just went home couse my heart started to heart and like i couldnt stop dreaming of her for another 7 days... so i dont want to see her but i do want to see her 🙁

Thats what makes me fall in love, someone who wants to share there life and how they feal about everything with me, someone who would go where ever i want and me with her as well, someone who makes me so glad to see her and whit whom i can spend everyday... Someone that is oposite of me (a person that can get my lazy ass off of a chair to work for my self and her)....

It's the clicking one. I believe there is a certain amount of compatibility you have to have to fall in love. I can't fall in love with someone who's personality I can't relate to. All the same, I can say that I've "fallen" for people who click with the less favorable parts of my personality before as well someone who can bring out the better part of my personality.

Wow, this is a pretty deep thread. To be totally honest, I've never been in love. So I don't really know what it would feel like. Sure I've dated and whatever, but I've just never felt it. Honestly; I think love can only be created, it doesn't just magically spark between two people.

It's like a combination of clicking on a deeper level and sharing select moments with each other, from what I can understand anyway. I think that's why so many people cheat on each other, because they've never shared those moments or really clicked on level beyond attraction.

You can be attracted to someone's body, personality and interests without falling in love. In fact I think the term used is infatuation.
