The idea for this week's poll was from ListeningDaisy, although I changed all the poll options... But regardless, when's the last time you did some kind of pleasure reading outside of manga, manhua, or manhwa?

You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related)
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Previous Poll Results:
Question: Which operating system are you using on your main computer?
Choices:
Windows - votes: 8970 (83.3%)
Apple (Mac, Rhapsody, etc) - votes: 973 (9%)
Linux - votes: 462 (4.3%)
BSD - votes: 12 (0.1%)
Other - votes: 75 (0.7%)
Multi-boot - votes: 272 (2.5%)
There were 10764 total votes.
The poll ended: October 25th 2014

People use BSD still?..

We've got mangaupdates to search for the right manga, if it's in you're genre or theme. But most importantly if it's good or not. As far as I know we don't have that kind of site for books. With books you need to guess if it's good or not. I find it annoying, if I'm reading something bad. Then it feels like a waste of time. Hench I didn't read something non-manga related for a while with the exception of the newspaper.

Well...from some years, after starting to read Manga, Manhwa and Manhua (like a pro...lol xD), I somewhat lost the interest in reading other books...!!

That Doesn't means, that I totally stopped reading them...I do read the ones I find interesting time to times...^^

At the moment I'm reading “ All Quiet On Western The Front ”...It's Totally Awesome...Read it...yo

All Quiet on the Western Front( German:Im Westen nichts Neues, lit. In the West Nothing New) is a novel by Erich Maria Remarque, a German veteran of World War I. The book describes the German soldiers' extreme physical and mental stress during the war, and the detachment from civilian life felt by many of these soldiers upon returning home from the front.
The novel was first published in November and December 1928 in the German newspaper Vossische Zeitungand in book form in late January 1929. The book and its sequel, The Road Back, were among the books banned and burned in Nazi Germany. It sold 2.5 million copies in 22 languages in its first eighteen months in print.
In 1930, the book was adapted as an Oscar-winning film of the same name, directed by Lewis Milestone.

Technically it was a couple of days ago. I only read a few pages though. I'm in the mood to read, but none of the books I own are appealing to me. You know when you wanna read a certain kinda genre but you don't know exactly what. I'm in that place at the moment ha.

I read at least weekly (sometimes even daily) books that have nothing to do with manga for pleasure. Though the amount that I read varies a lot so one week I'll read a few books and the next week I'm reading volumes of light novels or manga.

Well it makes sense for me I have always read when I was a kid and when I got introduced to manga when I was 19 I found more items to choose from. There is something about both that I like so I'll keep reading manga and books 🙂

Kind wonder if light novels count as "manga-related"

Just got into them recently with Mushoku Tensei and Gun-ota, but besides that I usually read history-related books for pleasure.

I've checked the website, but I've got the feeling it's like those websites that are influenced by the publisher. However I've checked their manga devision, I can't agree with what they chose as recommendation. It's just the common big three. I prefer series like Re:Monster, Shield Hero or Attack of Titan. (lol, every volume scores as most read over their). I like series with a good plot that has a good structure and enough deepness.

Actually, I don't do it anymore but not since I moved...now the only pleasure reading I'm doing is an obliged assignment from a class.

I'd rather read manga since none of the books interest me at my school library. -__-

Amazon is a good source for book ratings/reviews. I don't know if it has recommendation lists or anything, but it will give you a 'people who bought this book also bought x book' list that could help in finding stuff you like. Or just ask a librarian. 🙂

I do it every day. In fact i just finished reading The Red Knight series and before that Madan no Ou to Vanadis series. Both military fantasies type novels which is the type i love. Sometimes i re-start a book as soon i finish reading it. Just so i can stay in the world the author built longer.

Since childhood there were barely days I haven't got a book on my hand. The manga genre I found out late (in my thirties), therefore it never had the chance to become my first interest in books. A user mentioned that for books there isn't a site like MU, so usually picking up annoying and bad books. That may be right. I find the user reviews on Amazon very helpful to pick out good stuff. And I have a good sorted public library in my hometown, where I got mostly from. This way I don't loose money on something disappointing.
