To take the tutorial or not to take it. After being confronted with that question numerous times, I wondered how the MU-community would decide. Thus the poll.

Personally, if I'm familiar with the genre, I discover the game features by myself since it's mysteriously more fun and the tutorial usually covers a lot of already known information like how to move the camera or 'selct by left-clicking' in RTS games. And the rest can somehow be figuered out with button descriptions.

i take the tutorial because i'm afraid i'll never find out some parts of the game unless it teaches me in the beginning.

Well, I don't like following a tutorial through the whole game - BUT - if there is a "full/complete ending" or something similar that requires certain actions to be made during the game, I like to know about these actions in advance.

I almost never play the same game twice so missing out on the full ending just because I didn't speak to character X twice before the City of Doom was destroyed by dolphins... well, that sucks.

Just cheating a little 🙂

Most of the time I go to the option menu and check what each buttom does.

Anyway, I take tutorials only if they actually teach me something (the game is known for its original mechanism), I hate to waste time, so If I don't think I will need it, then I won't take any tutorials.

hope that makes sense

By tutorial, you mean a walkthrough, right?
I like to play the game by myself, for the first time through, at least. Then I may use a walkthrough to make sure that I do/unlock/collect absolutely everything.

If by tutorial you mean those "teach you how to play" in the game thingies, I always do those the first time through, for the sake of thoroughness.

I'll only take the tutorials if they reward me with
something like money or stats or something else
of great importance I could miss.

Tutorials are OPTIONAL crap that teaches you things about the game, that you MAY not know >_>

There are cases where you get bonus items in tutorials, and though they don't mean much, it'll come in handy when you're just starting out.

I always play through tutorials the first time through. any info I can get form them, no matter how minute, can be a godsend later on in the game. Not only that but the quality of the tutorial almost always shows the quality of the game. I played through the one for a Magna Carta game (Tears of Blood, I think) and knew immediately that I needed to take it back to Babbages and get my money back. The battle system was way too convoluted.

I'm much too dense to play a game without (at least) a quick tutorial to show me how it works.

I usually take the tutorial unless the game is so obvious that you have to be really stupid not to know what to do.

Knowing what to expect usually helps me out and prevents panicking when the waves of enemies come at you, lol.

I've done both, it depends on the game. I'd rather discover things on my own, but sometimes you can tell when you're going to need a little help.

Some games are too complex to not have a totoreal. Usually I don't use them though.

Sometimes, it really depends on the game. If it's something completely new I'll sit through it, but if it's way too long I'll skip it.
