What could possibly have influenced her to make this choice? I personally believe Petunia has more ties with the Wizarding world than she'd like anyone to know.

maybe he knew about the love magic other than that no idea....maybe its because he wasnt after her, just harry. but that wouldnt work, he is voldemort, he originally set out to kill her kind (muggle borns & muggles)

If I was to be in any of the houses, I'd probably be a Griffindor. I'm all honorable and loyal and stuff like that.

i like ravenclaw the most, 'cause the house is the least "extreme" in anyway....so far, it's the most insignifacant house in all, since there's rarely any interesting character or stuff going on from there (well, except cho, but she's a bitch)....all the other houses are too "extreme" for my liking, what's with the "honor, courage", "cunning, evil", & "good. nice" crap ....also, the name actually means something that sounds intelligent....

And are portraits made before of after death? I don't think Dumbledore was in his portrait until after, so maybe the portrait's appear magically? If that is the case, maybe Sirius isn't dead, because if he'd appeared in a portrait at the Black House (He's still an heir, what better place for it to be?), don't you think it would have been mentioned?

Maybe pictures don't talk since not all pictures are of people.

The portraits appear after death and they appear magically. I'm pretty sure it even said that. I doubt Sirius is still alive. I mean, he died pretty pathetically, but why would he get a portrait? I don't remember it saying that the Black house had portraits of former masters.

I think Dumbledore had James' invisibility cloak because he was keeping it safe, whether he was keeping it for Harry or not. Wasn't he one of the people who were first at the scene at the Potter house after it all happened? He could have gotten it then.

What I want to know is why they didn't just talk to Dumbledore's portrait about their situation? I mean, the Slytherin headmaster before Dumbledore could talk to them (forgot his name) and it sounded like that was what he sounded like in real life. Do the portraits remember anything of their old lives? 😕

In the fourth book, Voldemort says he'd forgotten about the blood magic, but it would no longer matter because he had the same blood in him. While he wasn't after Lily, he wasn't after James either, but he killed him without a second glance. It was by giving Lily a choice to live that the blood magic was called into action. If he hadn't, then she would have died without givng Harry the protection of her love, understand?

It just seems to be that a portrait would appear for a pureblood heir. And don't you remember Sirius's Mother by the front door? Always screaming? And there was also Phineas.

No, I don't think he was there at all. Hagrid had to go retreive Harry for him, remember? And why would James need Dumbledore to keep the cloak safe? Perhaps James thought Voldemort would find them? And weren't they supposed to have changed the secret keeper to Wormtail because they feared for the safety of Sirius? He probably would have been attacked anyway, so maybe there was some speculation on whether or not he would be able to keep the secret if tortured?

I believe so, and at what point did you want them to talk to Dumbledore's portrait? If I remember correctly, when Harry entered the office at the end of the sixth, Dumbledore was sleeping in his portrait and there was no time for a chat. Phineas is the Slytherin you are referring to, and I think that you enter your portrait with every memory up to the point of your death.

not quite, i thought the blood magic didnt invole a choice, unless she chose to live, it was place on harry because she died protecting him not by voldemort giving her a choice to live or die

Wrong, it was becuase she chose to give up her life. If it was merely because she died to protect him, then she and Harry both would have been protected by James's death.
