I have to read "A Lesson Before Dieing." Its unbelievably boring. It almost reminds me of "To Kill a Mockingbird" but less interesting. I hate it. I have 4 days to read it and then write 16 journal entries about it. Stupid procrastination.

Hmm, let's see what I remember.

A Seperate Peace - I absolutely hated it. Every part of me wanted to throw it somewhere where no one could ever look at it again. The man (author) could make grass relatable to a castle.
The Outsiders - I liked this; it was an interesting book.
Flowers for Algernon - ♥. That's all I have to say about it.
Great Expectations - Not brilliant, but I liked it a little. It started dragging but brought itself back at the end for me.
Taming of the Shrew - WRONG. EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS BOOK IS JUST WRONG. D<
Romeo and Juliet - Suckish. Just plain suckish.
**Twelfth Night **- Ahh, better than the other two in terms of Shakespeare, but still blehhh.
Diary of Anne Frank - Had to read it twice. Loved it the first time, despised it the second. I think analyzing things just makes books in general suck.
The Secret Life of Bees - (: Cute.
The Great Gatsby - I actually liked it. Gatsby was a character, man.
The Catcher and the Rye - I liked this one, too! (:
Misery - Stephen King is some good stuff.
Night - So sad; it's almost hard to believe it's true. ;__;
To Kill a Mockingbird - I hated everything about it. Everything.

I'll try to keep these chronological by year. Let's see how many I can remember! As you can see, the books get more intelligent content the farthest down. 🤣 ...........

Yeah.....your kind of insane.

But it's cool...... 🤣

It's summer vacation and I can't drive or walk anywhere from my house. What do you expect me to do? ;P

if you didnt cry when

boxer died...your not human...i was reading on the bus and i burst into tears. Very embarrassing. 😢

I silently had tears streaming down my face in the middle of class. 😔

awwwwww...i wish i was silent lol....i also laugh at the funny parts in books

We mostly read short stories, and only a couple novels. Either way, were were forced to read the same thing over and over again. I can't tell you how many times I had to read Lord of the Flies.

I have to read that this year. Not excited about it at all. All my friends also hate it. ;_;

This summer I had to read The Firm and Into the Wild, both of which I liked but for very different reasons, and my absolute favorite (although not required) book of the summer was A Thousand Splendid Suns by the author of The Kite Runner. I'm not much of a crier, but A Thousand Splendid Suns was so powerful I just couldn't help myself!

Hmm... It's been a few years since high school... lets see what I can remember... along with various short stories and poems, we read:

The Odyssey (Homer) - as Gr. 9 students... lets just say the depth of our analysis was laughable.

A Midsummer's Night Dream (Shakespeare) - and introduction into Shakespeare for our HS

The Lord of the Flies (William Golding) - Rather enjoyed this book at the time

Macbeth (Shakespeare) - Favourite Shakespearian play

Romeo and Juliet (Shakespeare) - Most hated Shakespearian play

Like Water for Chocolate (Laura Esquivel) - Most hated book... Thought I just couldn't stand/understand "magical realism" or that I may be racist/culturally intolerant... but after reading the next book... my class and I came to the realization that this book is just shitty...

The House of the Spirits (Isabella Allende) - A far more pleasant read. I actually enjoyed this one.

The Life of Pi (Yann Martel) - <3 you Yann; I had read this book several years prior in elementary school of my own volition

Pride and Prejudice (Jane Austen) - Favourtie Jane Austen book!

Crime and Punishment (Fyodor Dostoyevsky) - Not quite as long and slow a read as Tolstoy but I enjoy Russian Lit.

Hamlet (Shakespeare) - supposedly his greatest work...... I still preferred Macbeth!

The Great Gatsby (F. Scott Fitzgerald) - I just gotta say <3 For Zelda <3

Fifth Business (Robertson Davies) - Was good, I read the rest of the "Deptford Trilogy"

Hmm... I know I'm missing some fairly glaringly obvious ones from my Grade 11 class...

I was in IB English A1 HL (International Baccalaureate, 1st/Native Language, Higher Level) and got the credit for the first two (1st year) English classes... my program doesn't allow me room for electives, let along English.

An Inspector Calls
Of Mice and Men
Holes
Macbeth
Romeo & Juliet
(we also had to watch an old movie adaption and DiCaprio's Crappy adaption as well.It was torture considering i don't like Shakespeare or DiCaprio.)

This is all i can remember for now.

can anyone tell me what this book was?
It was about this ex-solider who was killing homeless people and putting them under his floorboard, i think the reason was that he thought they were a waste of space and the should join the army and they refused. the main character left home because of his stepfather or something like that. i t was long time ago and i would like to read it again if any one happen to know the title.

Among a bunch of Shakespeare and Jane Austin, I read Fahrenheit 451. That was a really interesting book. Probably my favorite. And Flowers for Algernon.

Oh man, I fail compared to all of you. But I'll just put in my own series and be gone on my way. 😢

Laura Wilder (series)
Twelfth Night
Narnia (series)
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

A bit childish I guess, but I like these books. The Laura Wilder series enchanted me. Even though it's a kid's series, it's a very good slice-of-life and slight autobiography. As for Twelfth Night, it's perhaps one of the only stories/scripts I like by Shakespeare. Narnia is really good, and I actually have the giant book with every single story in it. As for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, I can't help it, it's wickedly wackedly awesome.

From the foreign literature I have had as a required reading in my native language, my all-time favorite remains Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment. Now I think about it I have enjoyed everything Russian that we’ve studied – Chekhov, Gogol, Tolstoy, Bulgakov, etc. Aside from Russian literature I also loved Hamlet and some romantic and symbolic (like, from the Symbolist movement) poets. All other Western prose felt dull to me. Especially the French – honestly, I can’t think of any novel I’ve specifically enjoyed. Well, except for Old Goriot, since it was the only one where the main character didn’t annoy me as hell. And btw Dumas has probably been my least favorite foreign author from the required readings ever since elementary school xD Still trying to figure out what is it that I dislike so much in his writings.

As for my English Literature class – heck – I love all of the books we’ve read O_O My top 3 are The Great Gatsby, Macbeth and The Catcher in the Rye, but the others we’ve studied aren’t far from them. I kind of envy you, Americans, if you really study so amazing books all the time O_o

Chunky bump!

Right now I'm reading Crime and Punishment by Dostoevsky. My goodness, his writing style is CRAZY, but it's actually a quite interesting story! 😲

I don't remember all of them (but the majority I hated XD)

7th Grade - The Giver. I hated this so much. To the point where I wouldn't even pay attention any more.

8th Grade - 😕

9th Grade - The Odysessy, hated it, apparently it's the adaptation where 3/4's of the original got cut out or something.

10th - To Kill A Mockingbird, hated it. Romeo and Juliet (may have read this the year before, don't remember) - It was so bad it was amusing, to say the least, but only because of how shallow and idiotic Romeo and Juliet were. Julius Caesar (It was okay.) All quiet on the western front (or eastern front? I can never completely remember this title) I LOATHE THIS BOOK SO MUCH.

11th Grade - Macbeth (liked it), The Crucible (liked it), Lord of the Flies (Iffy, but still somewhat interesting), Of Mice and Men (hated it). Tweleve Angry Men (I liked this one 😀 ) The Great Gatsby (hated it. Confusing; boring writing style. Characters annoyed the hell out of me.) Animal Farm - I found it to be too boorish to the point where I'd guess on quizzes.
Can't remember the other ones.

12th Grade -
Scifi - The Time Machine (had an interesting plot, but wasn't fond of the writing style), that was the only novel we read, the others were just short stories (I remember one about paradoxes, but not much else).
creative writing - we really didn't read much, unless it was a work by one of our peers.
mythology - Most were short stories, but I found most of them interesting because I love mythology.

I have a feeling I'm missing a lot of them, but oh well XD.
