88 is bye bye? I you sure that's not 1337 for "BB" as in the acronym for bye bye?

I think there's also 13 which sounds like certain birth and 14 which sounds like certain death in cantonese.

I've heard a few of these but not the love ones. Some of them i just don't get but its all to do with how you pronounce them.
@Scyfon
88 is pronounced kinda like ba ba or bai bai depending on which chinese person you ask.

yea, i kinda figured it out after posting. But I always thought it was "Pa" and not "Ba"
....so would make it sound like pai pai? 😛
Of course, this would be a mispronunciation...but hey, still sounds yumm...I mean good 🙂

5211314 - wo ai ni yi sen yi shi (closest thing I can think of I love you in life in death...).
5366 - wo xian liao liao
It's just according to pronunciation and using the closest numbers to substitute for it.

521?? I thought it was 520 !
1314 is used on Cantonese really often. My friend's boyfriend uses it all the time 🤣 it means literally "one life one forever" (I think..) so.... together forever. But I know 4 is not death here!
and I say 88 a lot on msn 😀
and 2 is pronounced "ai" (if you say it really fast..?) so 2010000 is "ai nin" (love you) 1000 years ("nian").

yup! It does
and 14 means "will die" so nobody uses 1 and 4 together... And if you look at Chinese's car license plate, they usually have 8 on them. It means wealthy/rich 😀 I have an 8 on my car!

The number 4 rhymes with the word for die, and 4 is a very unlucky number.
2010000 is pronounced nian bai yi wan. I don't see how it can go to lovin' you for 10000s.

but it's 20 "ai nin" (love you) and then 1000 0 which is "yi chian nian" (a thousand year)
so.. 20 1000 0

Gah! All the pronounciations are being screwed in this, just so those of you who don't speak mandarin know.
