13 sounds like "must live" = 13 is a lucky number.
yeah, it's lucky! who told you it's not lucky..
I thought 13 means "must/will have children"... like "san" babies 😛
I suppose it could mean that too.

Just so that anyone who doesn't understand Chinese happens to read this...
Half of these pronounciations defined by previous posters are either referring to dialacts of Chinese or are wrong.
The only definate thing mentioned in previous posts that works in most dialacts and the official spoken Chinese is the fact that the number 4, when read in Chinese, rhymes with the Chinese word for 'death' (or the act of dying).

yes... they're wrong (sort of) but they're for fun ;D not meant to be taken seriously...
and besides, they're short enough to write when text messaging. ex. 1314 is used a lot =3

I'm using Canto and if you say it fast enough it does sound like it and it's widely used by native speakers where I'm at.
Oh and 2 sounds like easy, so 28 is favorite number.
9 sounds like long ...it also sounds like dog. XD

i was readin n found out how some numbers that mean somethin in chinesebut most of the slags bout loveydoveystuff
forexamp these are the ones i get since mymardrin isnt thatgreat
88 - byebye
521 i love you
5211314 - i love you for lifetime?
7998 - go for a walk
2010000 - lovein you for 10 thousands
5366 - i wanna have a chat
246 - I am starving
537 - i am angry
well i found this intersting post some if you know any
Interesting... It makes sense though if you're chinese (like me!) here's a breakdown of the numbers followed by the chinese pronounciation followed by the english.
88 = ba ba = bye bye
521 = wu er yi = wo ai ni = i love you
5211314 = wu er yi yi san yi si = wo ai ni yi shen yi shi... that's one saying. the other one's wo ai ni yi shen yi si (which personally, i've never heard before, but) = i'll love you for a lifetime... or somewhere along that line
7998 = qi jiu jiu ba = qu zou zou ba = [let's] go for a walk
2010000 = er ling 10000 = ai ni 10000? or maybe ai nin 10000... = i love you 10000
5366 = wu san liu liu = wo xiang liao tian? = i wanna chat
246 = er si liu = e si le = [i'm] starving
537 = wu san qi = wo shen qi = i'm angry
I'm pretty sure about most of these... 2010000 confused me the most and 5211314 took me a bit of thinking. If you know mandarin well, they should seem pretty obvious to you. And for some reason, I think 537 should have a 6 after it too... to make "wo shen qi le" which is also "i'm angry", but it sounds more... right in chat language.

I remember my friend telling me this one chain of number which equates to something about going out cheating but i dont remember anything besides the last four digits which are 9394
HaHa my diploma is posted as Sept 14 XD if i was superstitious that would be bad (but then again i kinda am...)

Interesting thread. I figured out 88 but thank you frozen_night for explaining the rest. I don't know about other dialects but in Mandarin you wouldn't just say si-si-si for 444. It'd be said as si-bai-si-shi-si or 4-100-4-10-4. So I don't think it would really sound like die-die-die, at least if you say it to someone's face. Some of these would be cool to use when texting. 😃

4 is unlucky and 8 is lucky. there are other ones but they're not that relevant...or often used
