Majin Devil
The boy is 15, I think, and a scientific genius who's life is run amok by demons. He must use his genius to defeat the devil himself!

piano no mori - beautiful story about child pianists

i agree, piano no mori...
but here's another...
nodame cantabile.. which has just ended recently... a great story. im not sure of the age but still young, since they are still studying... there are two main characters that has different backgrounds yet was considered genius/talented in their respective roles...

I read this a long time ago...
Seishun Shiterukai! - about a highschool teacher the same age of her students (16) and is a genius (she doesn't act too nerdy, though - a "genki" type of character)

Sangatsu no Lion, about a shogi prodigy. It's my current favorite.

Hm, the prodigy is actually 17, but it does show his life as an actual child prodigy. It's just too great to exclude for that.

Akagi (anime recommended) - He is 18 for most of the series, but still very young compared to his opponents.
G Senjou Heaven's Door - Not sure about the age, but they are high school students.
Mirai ni Kiss - Finally, a bona fide child genius.
Monster - Johan seems to be in his early twenties, but much of the havoc he wreaks occurs when he is younger, which is shown through flashbacks.

I guess Detective Conan? (if you're taking up the challenge to read all of it!) 🙄

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Vento Aureo, Giorno is 15, though he doesn't look like it, and is very, very smart. I don't know about his academic skills, but when he is in a fight you kind of just get that hes a genius because he just uses his genius skills to get through things? I don't know. It's hard to explain, just watch/read it if you're curious to find out.

P.S. Vento Aureo isn't really about his genius skills, it's about fighting but it's still is really good and i recommend you to watch it, actually you might as well just read all jojo, though season 1 isn't that good. 😃

Edit: Also sorry no links, this is my first time writing a reply so i don't really know how to do it.
