Shoujo manga with male lead with issues

I'm looking for a shoujo manga, preferably romance, with a male lead who has a sad past/ issues of some sort and the female lead helps him out. I prefer something sweet and gentle, not super dark.
Something like 17, Hana no Namae, Mekakushi no Kuni, or Orange.
Although it's the wrong genre, the relationship between Yato and Hiyori in Noragami is kind of what I'm looking for.
Please, no yaoi/yuri, ecchi, hentai, or smut.
Nice artwork would be appreciated.
Oneshots are ok.
