New Gundam Anime Announced

The new Gundam anime series will be called "Gundam Unicorn" and will take place in the Universal Century 0096 universe - 3 years after the '88 Gundam movie "Char's Counterattack". It's to celebrate Gundam's 30th anniversary if I recall correctly, and it is loosely inspired by the very first Mobile Suit Gundam series. After Gundam 00, this better be good!

Whohooo!
Lets hope Gundam Unicorn doesn't live up to the lame name.
00 had really good animation but it was sort of weak on story.

Not really dissatisfied, but I wasn't satisfied either. It was just... okay. And I expected more from a Gundam series!
Anyways, I like how they're going "old-school". You can never go wrong with that. Though we do have Sunrise working on it. 😛

I wish they would make a FMP sequel already. That's was a nice change of pace from Gundam, while retaining all the good robot fighting.

Not really dissatisfied, but I wasn't satisfied either. It was just... okay. And I expected more from a Gundam series!

Notice how Gundam comes out in bursts; for a few years they come out one after the other but other times they stall for a while but usually make a very good series.

Yes it was a loong break after Destiny...
I can't really explain it but 00 wasn't as good as say Wing or even Seed (not Destiny). Well Seed was a rethought of the original so it's not like it was really a new idea but still...
Gundam 00 Season 2 was much better than Season 1 in which only the last 3-4 episodes after the Trans-Am got really good. They wasted too many episodes introducing Celestial Being and their goals...
Also the characters were sort of meh. At the end of Season 1 a few characters even died, but they were either replaced, not dead or just forgotten. (The pink haired girl's hyper friend and the guy who liked her? Did they even get a flashback S2?)

I'm not a huge Gundam fan, but I might consider watching it.
I was pleasantly surprised by what I've seen of 00(I've still only seen half; I'm watching the dub as it's broadcast, as I wasn't compelled in the slightest to pick the series up when it first started), I hadn't really watched a Gundam show in full in a very long time going into it, but I ended up liking it enough to where I'd maybe approach this new one with more enthusiasm. I'll have to hear more about it and see more character designs first though.

FMP is so much better than gundam. The comedy is actually funny. the combat is somewhat realistic and don't just all happen in robots. Also the art is just so much better. Story is too.
I'm not a gundam hater either, I have literally seen every gundam series except ZZ and the latter half of 00. Even most of the movies.

yes, 00 was kinda under par but if you have watched like all of the gundam serieses and movies, its easier to appreciate

Lol I second what you guys said... FMP series NOW! I mean I like Gundam and all, but the storyline becomes really predictable...

I'm just hoping the art won't be similar to the illustrations in the novels or else I probably won't watch it.
On a side note, what's wrong with 00? I loved it.
P.S - I gotta agree, another FMP sequel would be greatly appreciated. I still think GONZO did a better job than KyoAni though >_>

Looks interesting...we will have to see if it lives up to them original ore not.
On the subject of 00 I thought it was pretty good up until the last 6-7 episodes when they knew they had to end it but it seemed they just didn't know how to pull it off right. The one thing I really liked about it is they didn't recycle battle scenes. Every new battle was fresh and clean, no recycling seeing the same clip of generic enemies getting killed time and again.
