I DESPISE ads. I died last year in English class where we had to study advertisements. Funnily enough, I did pretty well....
But the one type of infomercial that cracks me up as well as take up my precious screen time is that Proactiv infomercial where Jennifer Love Hewitt says, "Kia ora New Zealand." First reaction: hardout laughter. She pronounced 'Kia ora' wrong and with an accent too. It's not 'keeah ora', it's 'keeora'. The words aren't supposed to be detached from each other. Second reaction: Annoyance after that because it kept repeating on and on....for 30 minutes!! What was I doing on that channel anyway?!
That ad caused a lot of annoyance amongst people, especially my friends, because she couldn't pronounce 'Kia ora'. If you're gonna say it, do it correctly. It did the opposite and repelled us from the product. I mean...even chinese Proactiv ad. I gotta praise them for trying some phrases out. Their accents are not quite right but I could understand them, so that was good.
'Kia ora' is just a greeting. Which is worse? A phrase or a simple greeting? It takes a lot more effort to learn the pronunciation of a phrase so that's no excuse for getting pronunciation on a SIMPLE greeting wrong!

Hahaha, I just stumbled upon an advertisement for an institute for Alzheimer's. The guy in that ad is a famous old Pop song singer, Roberto Blanco.
For not German people:
It says: "Are you at the wrong place?" as if he had Alzheimer's and went to the wrong concert hall, I just love their perplexed faces xD
There's nothing to see here. Proceed with what you were doing or throw rainbows at random pedestrians.
