Hey guys, have you know of any hidden gems that remained unscanlated or generally unheard of, and is surprisingly long running.

Something like Azumi or Zipang. Totally underrated classics.

The recently finished Kouya ni Kemono Doukokusu. It's about 100 chapters exactly, or maybe a couple less. Fantastic action scenes and superb art. Some legit funny/comedic moments too. Wish I could say more about the plot and story, can only tell that it does look quite interesting.

In the hopes it will be picked up by scanlators.

I don't know how much it has to be 'unknown', but:

Kokou no Hito (a masterpiece), One Outs (not completely scanlated, but anime fills the gap in the middle), Oyasumi Punpun (this one is more well-known), and I didn't actually read this one, but sounds perfect for you: Sangokushi

I don't read too many longer series myself, but here are a few series that reached 100+ chapters without garnering much of a response among the English-reading audience...

The World Is Mine, Kiichi!! & Kiichi VS

Atagoul & the several related series by the same author (MASUMURA Hiroshi)

Nijiiro Togarashi - Not that Adachi is obscure, but this series of his doesn't seem to attract as much attention as his sports works. I'd say it compares favorably to most of them.

Sukeban Deka

Twin Spica

Fourteen - Only if you like absurdity drawn out to ridiculous lengths.

Wow thanks for the replies! seriously they are really not that well known (if not at all).

P.s.: Fate_Archer, your profile pic, from which manga it was from?

She's a character from BioMega by NIHEI Tsutomu (Blame!, Knights of Sidonia, Abara and several others).

Knights of Sidonia (or Sidonia no Kishi) has gained a recent anime adaptation last year, and the second season is slated for this spring.

Let´s see how many of my favorites from my master list fit the bill. I judged any manga with less then 1000 people attached in any form as "unknown":

Anthology: Hi no Tori
Chambara: Azumi
Comedy: Dr. Slump
Manhwa: Princess (Passes the 1000 barrier but only because of wish lists)
Mature: Yamikin Ushijima-kun
Mecha: Kidou Senshi Z Gundam Define
Military or Police: Kidou Keisatsu Patlabor
Sports: Ashita no Joe Finished
Webtoon: Blind Faith Descent (Will reach the 100)

So only old manga or ones with sporadic scanlations are present. I am not surprised but come on, Ashita no Joe and Hi no Tori are trailblazers for the medium!
Here is the full list as of now: http://mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=48756
From my wish list: Kamui Gaiden, Kento Ankokuden Cestvs, Oi! Ryouma (an Azumi 2 tie-in) and Ryuu - Ron. .
