Ok no one else said anything so lets put it like this

Rukia: is out the question, stop dreaming about it you loli perverts that is not going to happen, besides Rukia has a BIG mark in her ass that says propriety of Renji... BUT for his discomfort Byakuya decided to lay his "mark" in the other cheek...

Tatsuki: She doesn't even like Ichigo THAT much, He is her BEST MALE friend, but this is no Shoujo, also she loves Orihime too much, and is well aware that she loves him, so that is also out of the question.

Insert Random Female here: Nel is a loli most of the time, you perverts!!! Yoruichi has "other" interest, and I am not implying anything...
Matsumoto is a whore and the other females around Ichigo are either unimportant "plot wise" or his sisters (you freak).

Orihime: Is like the Hinata of Bleach (I would say the Bleach Nodoka), she hates to fight, but is willingly doing so because she loves Kurosaki, she loves him too much, for unknown reasons (who knows...), the only reason people don't like her and don't support their ship is because Kubo is dragging the reason behind this love (and that is a HUGE minus to her character).

Don't blame the girl (because there is no reason to hate her), Blame Kubo for not being straight with her development >_>

it kindov gets you thinking alot and after the images of them replay over and over in our head it really seems romantic.

1. They were pretty much created for each other.
2. She has a huge crush on him and he has a strong desire to protect her.
3. Both has orange hair and bullied in school for it.
4. Pretty much the only two people constantly together that are "human" and of similar age.
5. They share in that they are the hardest face to draw.
6. She likes strawberries and he like big boobs? He seems to not get along with flat chested girls.

also in an interview with tite kubo.

but to answer the question, the answer would be for the sake of shounen cliches. the protagonist always wants the hot childhood friend or vise versa at some point in the series so its gonna end up working out

I don't really care anymore. I used to like Ichigo and Rukia pairing, but sure, Ichigo and Orihime could work. I mean, Ichigo seems to like being a "knight in shining armor" and Orihime fits "damsel in distress" much more than Rukia.

now that everyone is saying this i sorta feel bad that rukia might be left with out ichigo.
i mean when the first chapter of bleach gave birth to our minds and we saw rukia and ichigos bond it kinda made me wish for them to end up together.

Inoue is simply more attractive physically and personality-wise than Rukia.

Other than that I don't really see any potentials besides the ones that don't make sense. I think if there was going to be romance it really should have been developed with some forethought and perhaps a more interesting lead, but that didn't happen.

I know I wouldn't go for the tomboy-ish, little-girl looking, often-annoying Rukia.
