Cheap Text Books
I buy them from betterworld.com. I've compared different sites(ebay/amazon/abe,etc) and so far it's the cheapest when it comes to USED books. I buy new ones from Amazon (Although we use Italian at the university I buy books in English since the Italian editions cost way too much and are older editions)

/facepalm at the people citing High School when obviously the OP and the first posts are talking about buying books, which obviously means College. I don't know any college that provides textbooks, and citing High School in a college discussion is like citing baseball when talking about cricket.
Well in here, we already had to start buying books from 7th grade. O_O So yeah, highschool and middleschool(?) too.
Such a confusing school system. >__<

I go to Abe Books. It just compares the prices of a bunch of places and I just buy the one that's cheapest & in the best condition. =p

I guess it used to suck for me too... but books back then were cheaper than they are now, at least.... Still a waste-o-money, though... never taught me anythin... damn textbooks.

I can buy them off him, cheap... ^_^
Just make sure he knows he's selling them to you, and be careful of prof's changing books/editions or the prof's changing and that sometimes 'causing books to change. (Don't know, that's just my experience.)
My brother had to buy a book when he was in high school 'cause of an AP class. I never had to for any of my AP's. Sometimes does happen.
I stick with half and amazon marketplace, but sometimes I'm forced to by lab manuals for school. (20 bucks for some paper stapled together with a heavy paper cover.)
