I want to know some 'pros' and 'cons' of it.. Also some counter-arguments against 'cons'..

Pros:If the generalization is positive, they think good things about you..

Cons:
-It gives you a wrong image of the person who you apply a generalization towards to..
-You don't even know the person, so you can't pass a judgement on his personality..
-Generalizations are one of the main reasons that racism exists..

Anyways, I agree.. I hate generalizations. Due to the fact you're making judgements/assumptions on someone you don't even know.. when you do make generalizations, (can't think of how to say it but: ) you're insulting those that aren't (whatever your generalization pretained to).. and seriously, I can't think of any pros for generalizations..

Well in America, at least, Asians are thought to be better at math than others, which in general tends to mean people think they're smart. Slight pro in there.

However, generalizations in general (yeah I did it) are a bad idea it tends to get your brain expecting to see something some way and then you can dismiss it. That of course, as proven time and time again, can come back to bite you in the ass.

well that is because in school most asians have to go through at least calculus in high school. in the big city area were i grew up the farthest that a person had to go in math was geometry.
