So Im looking for something where maybe they havent seen each other after high school or separated childhood friends or just those types of things. And when they finally meet again they discover that the other person is not how they were before. It can be a physical or mental change.

I think Sangen Tonari no Tooi Hito fits your request. They aren't from the same year though - one guy is the other guy's older brother's friend.
