Lately I for some reason remembered an anime I watched 15 years ago. Now I remember a lot of details but not the name any help will be greatly appreciated. Now the anime is a mix of Gundam and Guyver what I mean is that all characters have these robots (some animal) and they get into them like in Gundam or Zoids. But the main character has this knife that when he lifts it into the air this super strong robot comes from out of nowhere and engulfs hims just like in Guyver. Also the main characters "robot" can fuse with other ones to make them stronger. And evidently everyone wants that knife that controls the robot. Thank you.

Well... the only old anime I remember similar to that close to 15 years ago would be, "Voltron." There are 5 guys(originally), who pilot 5 Lions. xD Though the knife thing is a bit of a stretch for Voltron... well... besides the fact Voltron had a super sword and the enemy wanted to gain control of Voltron.

lol... If you twisted it a bit... the description could very well describe the first or second season of Power Rangers. lol

Nah I'ts not the power rangers the characters wore plain clothes like in Zoids also the main characters's "robot" was a living thing i think and he couldn't fuse with all the other robots (at least not to the part where I watched) only with one robot at a time. If he wanted to fuse with another one he had to diffuse first then fuse with the second one. Damn >< this is driving me insane and doing "old anime" searches on google doesn't help

shrugs I honestly don't remember watching anything like that 15 years ago...

Do you have more info? Was it a series? A movie? Do you remember a semi-specific year range(not just 15 years ago). Are you able to describe an episode, or arc from the Anime?

Maybe with more info someone will come along and recognize it...

Yes! Now at least we have proof the anime exists and its not my imagination though i remember some parts pretty vividly. Now lets hope someone remembers the name because going through all the anime produced in the 80's and 90's is killing me.

Doesn't look like it, I remember that one of the robots looked like a lion with a mane was yellow/golden in colour.

Thanks though

Edit: I think I found it 99% sure its Ninja Robot Tobikage/Ninja Senshi Tobikage/Ninja Robots

link

Thanks to everyone who helped

P.S. It was aired in Japan in 1985 but everywhere else in 1995
