Hello, everybody! I hope you are having a great day! If not, here is a smile for you 🙂

Positive messages apart, I've been looking for a shounen-ai manga that can depicts a real gay love story. I'm tired of the "I'm not gay, you are the only exception" thing which appears to be very -- actually too much, if you ask me -- common.

The manga that seems to meet my requirements the most is Guang Xiang for now. I would consider Guang Xiang a coming-of-age story that talks about

two young boys who slowly fall in love with each other and gradually understand, admit and accept the fact that they are gay. Of course, in the middle they also have to face society, but in the end they manage to live together.

Hate Mate is another good example because

the main character has always being gay. When he confesses to his heterosexual best friend, he gets rejected and goes on with his life. He finds a good gay guy and starts a serious relationship with him, leaving the past behind.

Recently I've started reading Ji Ye and Guan Shan and, even if only two chapters are out in English, it seems to represent what I'm looking for.

Do you have some recommendations? 😀

Bump

I'm trying for the last time, since I'm still looking for a good shounen-ai. I'm looking for something original, delicate, where the characters slowly come to know each other and build a relationship, a coming-of-age story. Just like Guang Xiang.

I'm starting to think that something like that doesn't exist because I can't seem to find it anywhere... that's why I'm submitting this post and asking for your help.

If you were wondering, I've already read Roommates, At the end of the road, Never Understand and Seven Days.
Do you have some recommendations? ><

I can recommend you my favorite shonen-ai manga with slow romance. 🙂
the Slow series,
Sasaki to Miyano
Hidamari ga Kikoeru
Saiyaku wa Boku o Suki Sugiru

These last three titles are still ongoing.

Thank you for the recommendations! I will add these manga to my wishlist and check them out one by one. Actually, Hidamari ga Kikoeru is already in my wishlist, but I'm going to wait for it to be complete before starting reading it 🙂

have you read koi monogatari by tagura tohru? its a reaaal slow burn since it focuses on characters rather than the romance, the story is about a high school kid struggling with coming out. story and art are both nice!

Koi monogatari is in my wishlist but I haven't read it yet because it's still ongoing and I like binge-reading. But thank you for your suggestion! At least I know what to expect from the story 🙂
