I wasn't a fan of the ebook readers I did try. Personally I prefer the size of my tablet and all the customizing options of my app. I'm a font snob, so not being able to use a font I chose and downloaded is a major minus for me. Or did they change that by now?

And eh, what do I need a laptop for? I've got my proper PC for stuff I need, with a proper monitor and proper keyboard. Tablet is for internet surfing and reading, and is also the perfect size for reading manga on 😉. Used it for note taking, too. It's also light and cheaper than those mini laptops, if I remember correctly.

I wonder if the answer would change if you were the one in the relationship.

It's funny because I think it doesn't matter in real life, but it does in manga -- or in any other form of fictional content. Fiction is usually more attached to conservative patterns than reality itself. That's because our culture is ever-changing -- in fact, it keeps changing more and more frequently and rapidly --, while fiction can't keep up with that pace. Plus, fiction hardly distances itself from the common tropes, ideal models and narrative samples because they are exactly what the audience wants. We all know that fiction and reality don't have to coincide anyway.

You'd be surprised. People on this website skew younger and more liberal, but I've known some conservative male assholes who would balk at a woman proposing to them (a couple even for asking them out, can you imagine being salty about that? lol). One was in a relationship where it actually happened and he broke up with her for "emasculating" him. Obviously it broke her heart but she's better off now.

Oh, and as for this poll, I have an Android. iPhones were never worth it for me personally, but I at least understood their value... when Steve Jobs was alive. He was a perfectionist, simultaneously a good CEO (a terrible boss, but still a good CEO) and the best QA tester you could ask for. Since he died, the company's products have been sliding downhill fast. It's not like they're literal garbage, but they're no longer higher quality than the average android device (they used to be, both on hardware and software), even though they're still twice the price on brand name alone. It's disgusting.

Quote from dreamer00013

Personally I prefer the size of my tablet and all the customizing options of my app.

Ebookreaders come in various sizes ...and sure, they are kinda bare-bone and slow, but...
The e-ink screen!

I'm a font snob, so not being able to use a font I chose and downloaded is a major minus for me. Or did they change that by now?

No idea. I'm not a font snob, nor that up to date on the details, in regards to ebookreaders.
Edit: Did a quick search, and yeah. It would seem most that aren't all to old, allow for custom fonts.

And eh, what do I need a laptop for?

What do you need a tablet for?

Tablet is for internet surfing

Surfing on an android/iWhatever is a maddening experience, the only rational explanation for, is that one cannot (at the time) access a proper computer to do it on.

and reading, and is also the perfect size for reading manga on

There are plenty of laptops, of much the same size ...some of which can flip the screen, both in the sense of changing the up/down-orientation, and letting you close it, with the screen outwards.
Granted, a tablet is a bit more convenient, for reading ...but not nearly as good, as an ebookreader.
Can't comment on price, as I haven't looked at that, having no real interest in them, or tablets, myself.
