I grew up in a pretty sceptic family, so I guess they never put much of an effort for me to believe, hence I'm pretty sure I never believed in it. However I do not remember anything from before I was 14 or so, so I can't know for sure.

Jamaicans are a highly religious people from my perspective Christmas in Jamaica was more about the birth of Christ than Santa Claus, thats how I was taught anyway.

Newer believed, when I was a kid they newer succeeded to hide the presents from me. Now I prefer presents from Snowhite instead of Santa for Christmas 🙂
Quote from Rainy Days
I actually never believed in him, even when I was a kid. I just liked the gifts. 🤣
This.
I like putting Santa Claus decoration outside my door during Christmas season, though.

I realized that Santa Claus wasn't real pretty early. I noticed that the writing on the presents that said "From: Santa" looked exactly like my parent's handwriting. For a while I still continued to pretend that I believed in Santa so I could get that extra present each year.

A few years ago (don't remember exactly when) I managed to stay up all night and saw my mom putting the presents under the tree and then I told her "Next time take me to the store and let me pick what I like.".
The next year me and my brother were picking our presents at a store.

I believed in santa when I was younger. My grandmother ruined it for me.
I actually get more excited over christmas now anyway because me, my sister, and our mutual friend always get really pumped up and compete in decorations and cookie baking and whatnot. It's a lot more fun now. 😃
Still do. Can't destroy whats in spirit. As a side note I love the letter from Francis Church to Virginia O'Hanlon.

I was in 1st grade when my Dad told me there was no Tooth Fairy. I didn't work up the guts to ask my parents if that meant there was no Santa either until after that Christmas, but since I have two younger brothers, presents from "Santa" continued for quite a long time afterwords.

I never believed in Santa. Or the Easter bunny. Or whatever. My parents never told me he was real. So...

I was 6 when my older sister told me he wasn't real and, as if verbally informing wasn't enough, she dragged me out of bed to peek in the living room downstairs where my parents were wrapping the present. Kinda destroyed the illusion for me then. I would still pretend for my younger brother's sake, he was not included in my sister's secret so he managed to make it til 9 or 10 before we told him thr truth. Now I am keepping the dream alive for my 3 year old nephew.
Now I'm an adult I find the idea of telling children some old fat man breaks into the house, steals food and leaves unknown packages rather disturbing, not to mention the idea he watches you ALL the time and makes judgement upon your every thought and action to determine whether you are good or bad. This is before we even consider the emotional damage of discovering that he doesn't exist. You always get the kids who find out first teasing those who still believe once you reach a certain ratio of believers:non-believers. I insist that I shall not set up my own children for such a fall, It's just cruel.
The pen is mightier than the sword...and considerably easier to write with.
