I used to do #1, then I switched to #2 and now I only do #3. If it's not complete at least in Japan, I'm not starting it.

I do all three of those methods. Most common huh... That would be hard to say.

Depends on the series. if the series is finished publishing, i wait till it gets finished scanlating before reading it, if a series is still ongoing, i read chapters as they come out.

I read all there is and wait for each chapter as it comes out, if it's something ongoing or in process of being scanlated.

I have a real-life friend who only reads something if it's been completed and fully scanlated, though. That feels pretty weird to me~

I only read when the whole series is complete because I hate waiting. Most of the manga I read aren't main stream so they don't get released every week, but instead may a month or two or years. By the time I get to read the next chapter, I would have forgotten everything I had read previously, which is a pain to reread.

I'm not in a hurry. I only read a few series a year anyway.

The obvious reason the "read each chapter as it comes out" option won, is because the reason that most the mangaupdates users use this website, is to check for the releases of their favorite series so they can read the chapter when it comes out. If people really didn't care about when it's released and rather wait are probably the people who aren't even users of mangaudates right? So in a way it's slightly biased. But it really doesn't matter.

BTW I'm a "read each chapter as it comes out" person. I'm just too impatient to wait when I can read it when it comes out. If I did wait, I'd probably have withdrawl symptoms with lack of manga. XD
