One of the most annoying shows.
My roomies' son always watches it nonstop so when I'm babysitting, I honestly just want to take a gun and blow my brains out. And that damn song gets stuck in your head... I end up singing/humming the song days later... 🤢

Not only that but I'm pretty sure it's probably caused some kind of mental damage to children everywhere...

If it weren't for the gutter, my mind would be homeless.

I emailed nick and the creators .. they said: In no way is Spongebob Squarepants gay, they were just putting in apparently misunderstood scenes to be funny for kids, its a silly notion that he is a homosexual and should not be made fun of, yes the new episodes can be a little confusing but we asure you that there is no need to worry about Spongebob being gay.

I recall his voice, particularily his laughter, making my ears bleed... I found it annoying --- having young cousins who loved the show was terrible.

I do agree with previous posts --- its like the show was made in cannabis induced states of sludge..

Oh, and yes, Invader Zim was my favourite Nickelodeon show back in the day (Elementary School)...

I liked Spongebob until after the movie.

Most people don't know this, but Stephen Hillenburg actually wanted to end Spongebob with the movie. Of course, the execs at Nick were too greedy and forced Hillenburg to make more material (Like Toriyama's case with DBZ and Shuiesha), so he decided to make the show horrible on purpose by making the plots bad, having all the characters go through character derailment, Spongebob more annoying and seemingly gay so that it could get canceled. But of course, it didn't work...

It was a pop culture phenomenon that deserved the popularity it earned all the way up to the movie, but now it's horribly overrated. And they even had it on MTV for a while trying to market it to college stoners. 😔

good before the movie, agreed.
It was surprisinly good for a kids show, it was very different then all the others, before they started copying it. It had a lot of humor that transcended ages. The deeply cynical and bitter reactions to spongebobs antics were a turn on based on how negative they were being to basically the kid on the show. before it was overdone it was also fun to be in its cult following.

also imho, all these people hating on it are hating on it because thats whats cool to do right now... its impossible to try the show fresh with all this negativity...

I love spongebob and I don't think he's gay (now patrick is another story) My favorite episode is best day ever! 😛

It's not the worst thing on TV, as far as entertaining people goes, it gets the job done.

i love spongebob! although the original episodes were the best...
but thats usually the case with all shows.
