K, so i bought 4 final fantasy games off eBay.
but the guy i bought them from is in the states.
and when crossing the border it takes 2 weeks to arrive.
but im already tired of waiting.
so in order to keep myself from exploding in these next two weeks i've made this pole.

My first choice is obviously FFVII, and in fact, no matter what the poll says, i'm playing that first.
you can vote for it if you want though, cause it'll get me even more pumped for when it arrives

i wanna hear some stuff about the other games as well though, but NO SPOILERS.
i already know too much about FVII and i don't want any spoilers for any of the other games

also, i've played a little of FFIX i think (might've been FVIII), but it wasn't even long enough to get through the beginning scenario/tutorial. and it was a few years ago so i barely remember it, but it looked like a good game.

FFV or you won't be playing it afterwards.
VII is highly overrated with its retarded graphics
and annoying midi tunes.

🤣

Mams has a point...play V first so you won't be turned off by the graphics after playing the other games...

Other than that, I would suggest VIII after VII. Though VIII is really easy once you get the trick about leveling...

IX has sort of a childish look for me and was really weird when I

saw saiyans and "someone" going SS4

You would've been better off if you found VI or Tactics...

Also, if you want other opinions to help you decide, refer to these two:

They're all good! Raaaaaaarrgh~ Foams.

/fanboy.

Play FFV first. It has a great cast.
FFVII's overrated, but good nonetheless.
FFVIII is good too, and deserves more credit.
FFIX is the most underrated FF game, while it's very enjoyable. 😉

Quote from blakraven66

You would've been better off if you found VI or Tactics...

This is very, very true. All the other games in the series pale in comparison to those two.

Of the ones you're deciding from, IX is boring and has horrible character designs; VIII has a poor plot, broken gameplay, and an unpleasant, annoying cast of characters (particularly the lead); VII is pretty good all around, but not as great as some might lead you to believe.

I'd recommend V if you can stomach the SNES era graphics. It's just a fun game to play. The job system is great. Plot is solid for a classic RPG and the characters are likable.

My rating (I haven't played FFXI or FFXIII)

FFVI has the best plot of all the FFs EVER, the best Villain, and many of the musics of FFVII that you so love are copy/paste of songs of FFVI not to mention the best learning system ever!!!

FFVII has the second best plot of all the FFs, a good set of villains (but they fail, if you compare them with the bad guy of the FFVI)

FFV job system would probably be a change of phase for you and the plot is fairly rich, also don't get too exited about your means of transportation... if you thought losing the car in FFVII was harsh, you really don't know anything.

FFTactics PS, it has a great plot "probably Third", and a continuation of the FFV job system. keep your eyes open and read very well or you may fail to understand the whole plot. (if you work hard enough you can get some extra goodies in this game)

FFIX is good enough, even with all the childish parts the plot is fairly good, you learn new moves from your weapons and armor 🙂 sounds familiar? well that started in FFVI too.

that should be enough
😃

Nice, i really like seeing people that rip through the swarm of swallow games with fancy graphics getting released everyday, and get their hands on some "dusted" diamond like those. Ofc im not saying that there aren`t good/superb games released too, but i believe games like those are 2-3 every 5 years or so....

Anyway, my proposal is FF VII, in my case i don`t get bothered by old graphics, so i believe you sould play some of the old games later, since i think they are kind of more hardcore than the newer ones. Since you already know of it , i wont get into details, ill just say...brilliant materia system + superb story, a pretty balanced game overall, very good at every aspect.

ofc FF VIII is a good choice too and it has one of the best romance plots ever, so so if you are into romance you should play it, also it has the unique feature that the enemies level up along with you, which i find very intriguing since it indulges the player more into thinking, searching, experimenting rather than blind leveling.

Last and most important you should definately play Xenogears too, really do not make the mistake to overlook this game, it has the GREATEST story/scenario ever!!!

the only final fantasy ive played AND enjoyed was final fantasy tactics

i beat the ps1 version twice and then i beat it once on the psp.

i beat ff10 once, it was okay. just a standard rpg.

i played ff12 and it was atrocious, the battle system is similar to a hack n slash... where you dont have to do anything except run around (the character does all the work).

i think final fantasy eight looked good.
i didnt care for seven
i didnt really like nine but it stands out in the series.

so my recomendations would be
1 final fantasy tactics
2 final fantasy eight
3 final fantasy ten

thanx for all the recommendations 🙂
i really don't care about graphics, i own and played on super nintendo alot so i really don't care, its more about plot, which im not picky about 😛
I can probably find tactics pretty easily, considering i've seen it alot, but i don't think i'll be buying any other games anytime soon.

FF8 tbh is my all time favorite ^^
Was just a fun game and combat system was awesome (except for the drawing for 30min)

Hmm, I have all the FF games (except for three since it was actually 6 in the US, and the third is... I don't even know anymore), but I haven't even finished the first 6 😲 . If you bought it, I would have recommended VI. Even though I haven't finished it (and quite frankly, I think I stopped at the half-way mark), it was still very very good. If I finished it, it might have taken the top spot for my FF games (which is currently occupied by FFVII).

If you're like me, and isn't phased by bad graphics, I'd say go with V. I played that one a little. I got to the point where I was using the job system, and had all the characters, but it wasn't mine, so I had to give it back. From what I remember, it was pretty good, and one day I hope to finish it (now that I own it).

However, I think all of them are fine choices. At first, I thought that VIII was mediocre at best since I thought the story sucked and the fighting system was too hard. However, when I went back and played it recently, I found the story to be very intriguing, and when you learn to use it, the fighting system can make to game extremely easy (I went through most of the game lower than level 10). Oh, btw, FFVIII is a love story. I'm inclined to say the first true love story out of all the FF's, but I think IV may have some love element (IX, X, and X-2 each had love as one of the major plot points). But even though it's a lvoe story, it was still very good. I put it as second among my favorite FF games. FFIX, which is currently third, has a very good story. I personally don't like the characters since they look too cartoonish. However, the story was good enough to compensate for the characters.

So, I'd say go with 5 simply because it the lowest of the numbers (and you should play in ascending order 😀 ). However, if you want my opinion as to which is the next best among those choices, it would be FFVIII.
