Engineering student here. Over the summer, (i.e. right now), I make $18/hr plus free housing. During school year, $10/hr plus I work less hours, and don't have compensated housing. (Living that broke college life in the US.)

Internship position that doesn't pay. I've spent literally my entire adulthood (ie: 10 years from when I turned 18 up until now O_o) first studying to be a medical student, then studying as a medical student, and now, finally, going through my unpaid internship period until I can pass my fin ...

What country is this ? I’m a 6 years medical student and I’ve been paid monthly starting from the 4th year.

We don’t get much, (we work half time) 100€ the 4th year, 200€ the 5th and 220 the 6th but still !
We sometimes do night shift, paid 40€.
Starting 7th year we work full time paid a little above 1100€ I think.

Not that person but in the us for collage and med school typically end up in the 400k range with no scholarships and can go higher. but at least in the us, once you become a doctor you are looking at a 6 figure as the floor job, and especially if you work a few years outside a major city you can get cheap housing and a comparatively stress free lifestyle paying it off.

Outside of falling ass backwards into something well paying that shouldn't be, it's the best 'guaranteed' paying job you can get sans luck, granted, that's assuming you can cut it as a doctor.

Warn: Banned

Even if you fail at becoming a doctor, don't you still have more than enough alternatives, such as going into pharmaceuticals, sitting on administration boards, conducting studies for medical companies, forensics, "natural" remedies (Chiropracting, massages, acupuncture), etc.? Doesn't the medical field cover much more than just getting a cushy job at a hospital or a doctor's office?

Hey. Not sure if you are responsible for the latest pole about how much you make but did you consider that there may be some oldsters out there that enjoy manga? I would have responded if retired was an option. Watch your ageism in the future.

Not necessarily. It's skewed because there isn't an option for students. So there could be lots of college or high school students that would be part of the "Education" section of NEET. Also, possibly some retired peeps, too.

Right forgot about the US, here we pay 200€ per year of university for med school.

roflmao, your projection is under by like a factor of 3 as far as average college tuition in America. That sounds more like a community college than even a state university.
