One - this should be in Haou Airen forum.

Hakuron ends up getting shot and dying the day they were supposed to get married. The 2 hold each other and talk until the very end. In the future, you see that Kurumi is now watched over by the 4 Heavenly Kings, who were originally Hakuron's men (and all of them were in love/lust with Kurumi at one point or another). As she walks off with them, leaving from a visit to the church where Hakuron died, you see Hakuron in the doorway, watching her depart. He throws a flower onto the ground, and says a few words, the last being her name. This is the end of Haou Airen.
Anyway, that's what I found after I googled it. When I heard how it ended, I decided to stop reading the series 😐 .
Edit: @lambchopsil - that was quick O.O

Really?
I peeked in the last book in raw Japanese in Japan at a Book Off, and to add on to that...
Hakuron is just dead. Nothing about the other stuff.
Maybe Shinjo Mayu changed the ending because the way it originally went was too sad, so that's why there's the extra stuff. I remember hearing about how lots of fans wrote to her and she changed the ending. I guess if you watch a relationship go through lots of hell (about 8 volumes or more?) and there isn't a happy outcome (I just knew a couple of the bad things that happened while they were involved from each other because someone who read it summarized it for me, until she just quit reading it), I'd write to her for re-write too! 🤣 😳
