Anyways, NO for me. I always wondered how someone can do that. I remember watching someone do this to every other page and it makes me gag just thinking of it.

Well, my hands are gross and sweaty all the time, so that may be why but I've never felt the need.

It's disgusting in my opinion. 😐

I also hate it when teachers don't find water/windex, they opt to use their saliva to wipe the overhead instead. (cringe)

using my hands, like chicken nuggets

but ya reaaaaaally nasty... when my h.s. teachers did that i would grab the last pg. b/c hopefully most of the saliva is on the previous pages or is dried up 😃 wishful thinking on my part >.<

I can't stand it when people do that to hand me papers 🤢 It's so nasty. It's just an easy way to pass on germs and bacteria. Bodily fluids are the prime transfer source for most disease.

as some other people say on the rare occasion my book wont open but lol saliva? on your paper? ha ha thats a first but i do see lick stains >.> <.<

and @ the people who licks off the chips seasoning i do it too =)
though the most annoying has to be hot cheetoes since it stains your finger red

I used to have a teacher who licked for every page he turned...even when he's turning numerous amounts of pages consecutively. It was very disturbing 😐

no i dont do that...i think that only old people would do that...my first grade teacher and my grandparents as well...but seriously...does it really help in page turning?? i mean is it really necessary for the page to stick to your thumb for you to be able to read faster?? anyways i also think that its disgusting and your books will be covered in saliva and it will have that awful smell ...and it will lose the paper/tree smell that books have..which i totally love!!

I'm honestly really kind of surprised at some of the vehement reactions from people in this thread. It really goes to show a paradigm shift in what society currently thinks about hygiene, because it wasn't that uncommon not long ago. (Maybe 2-3 decades.)

I don't find it particularly disgusting unless someone is practically slobbering on something that I have to hold once they're done. Yeah, then it's really gross. But otherwise, I'm not that squeamish.

Nor do I think it's likely that I'll get someone's germs from touching something which they also touched after having licked their finger for separation. In most cases where it happens, they'll have licked their finger very lightly, not slobbered, and therefore it will dry too fast for there to be any smell OR for you to get their saliva on your fingers. And even then you'd have to rub your eyes or something like that to get it into your system - and most of us aren't going to do that regardless, especially if we've seen someone lick their finger.

Just noting my surprise at the reactions I've seen and wondering how much of it is generational. =)
