I have a friend that bought a T-shirt with Chinese writing on it because she thought it looked cool. When visiting NY, we were in Chinatown and people kept looking at her and smiling, some even laughing out loud. Finally some kind soul explained to us that the writing meant: "Try them, they are juicy". After laughing at her for about five minutes, I finally got from the person that it was probably slogan use to sell a product.
Of course the writing lay all over her boobs. We laugh every time she puts it on. (Yes, she still wears it)

okay okay I get it! If I get a tattoo in another language in Japan, I shouldn't do it... but if it's in Japanese, and I'm in Japan, it should be safe, I think =D

That sums it up pretty well. More importatnly the moral of the story is to know what you are putting in your body and make sure you will not regret it in the future. It is a lot more expensive to "erase" a tatoo than to paint it on your body.
