I picked renji simply because i think achieving bankai ahead of kenpachi is really an amazing feat. Although Ikkaku also did it but we are just talking of vice captains here, right?Also i also like his past wherein he and rukia struggled to be a shinigami and how he struggled to beat byakuya. Sometimes his rash behavior during his fights is very similar to ichigo's. They are both hotheads but i like them both.

EXACTLY, Captains can be decided by defeating the current one, but what about vice captain? Are the chosen by skill or the captains pick? Either way I don't think Zaraki would've put up with Yachiru for so long if she was weak. THen there always the point that she may have been receiving all of Zaraki's overflowing reiatsu up to the point where he got the eye-patch, much like Chad and Inoue did from Ichigo. We don't know how long they've been together but it has to be longer than Chad and Inoue, plus they were most likely together 24/7 for years. If Yachiru was receiving the overflow of reiatsu she is probably one of the most powerful vice captains, if the the most powerful.
