can't say I saw this coming tho, Tho it was a little hinted at i guess with the description of his friendship with that one guy in the 7th book

Yeah. I did. But I didn't read the last book. I want to! I really do. I have it! But I just can't pick it up and read it. I just can't. 😢

I'm sad about Hagrid too. But I just can't see him with anyone. He's more of a freebird anyway.

Most little kids probably aren't sure what gay means. Their sexuality comes later. Actually, a guy liking a guy is probably more appealing to them than romance because of the whole cooties thing that's there at that age.

I was definitely not expecting that at all. And personally, it's not important to the story, so I don't care. But if she had put that in the book, then it would have gotten a ton of disapproval and scorn.

You have to wonder if J.K.R. just said that to sell her next Harry Potter book. It will be an encyclopedia with tons of information and after-the-fact stuff dealing with probably tons of characters from the HP universe.

This Harry Potter encyclopedia is confirmed from Rowlings herself from an interview. She didn't want to put all this information in the 7th book and she knows her fans want it, so she said it will be released later.

On July 24, 2007, Rowling announced in an interview that she "probably will" write an encyclopedia of the Harry Potter world, which would include background information cut from the narrative as well as post-Deathly Hallows information, including details of what happens to the other characters, who the new Hogwarts headmaster is, and more.

I'm alarmed and, frankly, ashamed that some of you seem to equate "gay" with "pedophile" by suggesting that his homosexuality is why Dumbledore was interested in [a very young] Harry. I really hope you were joking, and not just being big, fat, ignorant bigots.

I feel sorry for the characters that died. But personally, I don't think that she should write another book, because of her fame. Unless it was something obscure... who knows?

Personally, I feel sorry for anyone who thinks Dumbledore's sexuality has anything to do with the story. It wasn't mentioned in the story at all and I don't think it adds or detracts from it in any way now that Rowling has "outted" him (posthumously, I might add). I think that it is interesting, just as I might think that the color or Hermionie's underwear is interesting. Just because something "is", doesn't mean that it is important.

Rowling screwed up by confirming this info. She basically made herself and her books the target for hate from simpleminded homophobes and bigots. Harry Potter is likely to be banned from schools or burned by the religious right and so many children will no longer have the chance to read it. If it was that important to make sure people know Dumbledore was gay, she should have just left hints and let people infer it.

Life is tough......but it's tougher if you're stupid.
