Koibana! - Koiseyo Hanabi I think fits that, though it's still ongoing........uhm, geez, I'm not sure just how many others I can mention that he specifically has a different girlfriend when the story starts.......if I added ones where he was kind of a player with kinda/sorta "girlfriends" and then came around to our female mc or that he switches back and forth I can probably come up with a few more.....Eensy-Weensy Monster, GE - Good Ending, Kyou, Koi o Hajimemasu, Nozoki Ana and Saesang Bring It On!.

Though I'm not looking for the player type male lead with different girlfriend but a male lead with a steady girlfriend before meeting the female lead...

Bambi to Dhole sorta fits. The male lead has a kid and a dead girlfriend so basically he has the girlfriend's shadow over him and it was tough for the female lead.
