So I was wondering if anyone could think of any shows or mangas or movies or even music that is not about math but has math in it.

The only thing I can think of off hand is Futurama.

I have to teach math classes and I am trying to find new ways to interest the students. Anything helps. Thanks!

There's a Japanese movie called "The Professor and His Beloved Equation" that touches a bit on math, but mainly focuses on the math professor's relationship with the mother and son. Is this something you're looking for?

Also, depending on how young the students are, you could always use a show like "Cyberchase" and pull out a few episodes that deal more with math.

I dunno whether this helps but there's a math tag on MU. I have only read Yasashii Sekai. It focuses more on relationships rather than teaching methods.

Stand and Deliver seems to fit the criteria as well.

I watched a japanese drama called "Hard Nut" which was about a college girl who used maths to solve mysteries, but well , maybe there is too much maths in it, but maybe it will interest someone since it is quite funny and show a different way to see maths 🙂

The book The Housekeeper and the Professor, which the movie is based on, is also really good. It's a really short book as well and very enjoyable.

There's also the movie 21...which is about counting cards in Vegas casinos but...

Numb3rs is a crime show where the crimes are solved with the help of a mathematician. It aired on CBS from 2005-2010. Currently, you can find it on Netflix.

Wow, following the maths tag, I just finished reading Suugaku Girl. It has some really fun mathematical proofs (well, one's standards of fun may vary), check it out. 😀

My math teacher used to read The Number Devil to us sometimes. It was a fun break from constant classwork.
