As we all know there are tons of female mangaka that write wonderful and well known shounen manga (creator of Fullmetal Alchemist, creator of Inuyasha, creator of Blue Exorcist) but I don't think I know of ANY male shoujo writes? (I thought the creator of DNAngel was for the longest time).

Do you know of any male shoujo writers?

Wedding Peach is written by a male shoujo mangaka although the artist was female.

Wada Shinji was one such case, unfortunately did few years ago.

EDIT: Actually back in the old days in general many shounen/sainen artist started off as shojo artist (and even outnumbered female mangaka) but that was like a stepping stone for them (though it's entertaining to know that people like Chiba Tatsuya (Ashita no Joe) done shoujo works as well). But I presume you're more interested in nowadays artists right ^^;;

Well Matsumoto Katsuji was pretty important in the genre and for manga generally... and I had a list of well known mangaka's from the early times (many of them male) since I've research a bit of shojo manga history but unfortunately I don't know where I have it anymore ^^;;

Once only men wrote all manga, even for girls. As Chibi-Chibi said, many shounen artists got their start writing for girls. In addition to Chiba-sensei, MATSUMOTO Leiji, ISHINOMORI Shotaro, and the god of manga TEZUKA Osamu all wrote shoujo. MATSUMOTO Katsuji and WADA Shinji were exceptions in that they wrote mostly for girls. Others that I found are TAKAHASHI Makoto who wrote in the 1950s and 1960s and YUZUKI Hikaru who doesn't seem to have written shoujo in decades. I've only been able to track down two who have worked more recently than the 80's (though I'll be adding TOMITA Sukehiro to that list, thank you Lunarmoon17).

SHIBATA Masahiro has written in several demographics. His most recent shoujo title was in 1997, according to this database.
MAYA Mineo, creator of Patalliro!, a classic shoujo, that is still ongoing from 1979.

I'm pretty interested in this too, so I did a quick search on this site and I think I came up with a few. Neither of them have their genders confirmed however, so I can only judge by the names.
