I've been reading Bitter Virgin like every update!!! For some reason it took me awhile to finally read the ending. lol now i know why. I finished it up yesterday and boy was i upset. She was going to tell her secret and then when she found out he already knew and still accepted her she wanted to run away. THEN they get together and everyone is like they have to break-up at sometime. That was a very gay ending. What does her having a baby have to do with them "having to break up" in the future! Didn't he already accept that? To many cliffhangers in a manga that we all know will not have a sequel. dead

I don't think the point of them breaking up was really because of the baby. It seemed moar like they were just too incompatible, and I kinda liked that. They acknowledged that it was just a highschool relationship, and that they'd both find someone they could really be with in the future. I mean, c'mon. Do you HONESTLY think their relationship coulda worked out in the real world?

I agree with you on certain aspects but I really hated the fact that Daisuke admitted defeat as soon as they got together.. I mean after all the effort he put into making this relationship possible I would expect him to have a little more faith that things will work out in the end. Instead it felt a little like he was willing to give up if she ever found someone else, I can understand why the female protagonist would think so since she lacks the self confindence due to her traumatic past but the fact that Daisuke would give up so easily felt unrealistic to me...

I understand what you guys are trying to say. Yes I do believe their relationship could work out in the real world! That question didn't even make any since. And they both didn't say they would find someone better, they both was saying that the other person will find someone better. They just both agreed that they would have to part. I just want to know how they turned out. I feel like a mother worried about her children. I'm upset that they think they should break-up in the future but I already gave up on that.

i wrote it before and i write it again ;>
they can be together... why ?
Daisuke needs to get more mature
Hinako needs to cheer up ^_^

all in all Daisuke mom is part of their happy ending too - i dont think she would be against it ;o
Hinako getting pregnant natural way is hard to imagine - even with Daisuke ._.
well if HinakoxDaisuke fails then Yuzu have chance !!! xD

Well what we have to realize is that this is from their respective POV's, so it's not like they came to an agreement and said "Okay, so we're gonna break up in XX years." If you read the series through again (if you're lazy like me then the last few chaps will do) then you'll see how strong their love really is.

They're both young so they're a bit insecure about the others feelings, and they figure eventually the other person will let go. But, Daisuke has already learned to accept all of Aikawa's traumatic faults and over time he will continue to mature and support her. Likewise, Aikawa has learned that the world won't stop to grieve w/ her and she must move on little by little if she truly wants to be happy.

EDIT: I reread and noticed that they themselves never said anything about either of them letting go. They just said that there may be someone more suitable for the other in the future. Of course I am a sucker for "happily ever after". eyes

I thought the ending was pretty good, because even when they got together, they acted just like how two people like them in real life would act. And like some people in this thread typed already, they only THINK that they're not good enough for one another. Eventually, they'll figure out that they're perfect for each other when they mature over time. They just need to get their self-confidence up.

i would like to know if they had children together.

I was really surprised that most of this manga was based on the mangakas own experience.

Now that I carefully think about what they said in the end, I deduced that they did probably live happily ever after. I think that the final thoughts they have about someone more deserving are themselves in the future.

He mentions, "One day a man much more mature than I am should take care of Aikawa."

She mentions, "One day he will find a cheerful girl much more suited for him than I am."

That mature person is his future self. He is only a high school student and has a long road ahead of him.

Aikawa too is still only in her infancy, and still has the potential (as we see her grow throughout the story), to become a "cheerful girl."

The whole, "the two of us must part," is used to speak about their present "immature" selves, that they will leave behind once they mature.

So until that day comes when they grow up, and have to start thinking about things like starting a career, finding a house and eventually raising a family (and in their case finding Aikawa's child), they are going to enjoy themselves. Because, as everyone knows, you are a high school student only once, and you live only once.

WOW, very well done mangaka.

i'm sad that that was the ending, but irregardless of how else they could have ended it wasnt bad. its realistic enough for the manga alone. i guess the teenie weenie problem was where it had stopped. but its fine for me.

as for the things in their thoughts, where they were thinking that they wouldnt last. its alright, i guess after everything they went through they know its still not the end, people would barge in. its not possible for them NOT to be together though, there's still a big chance for them to be especially what they fought for with each other. atleast theyre not acting like their relationship is hopeless, its just what they were thinking. thinking maybe they wont make each other happy. but i think they already succeeded, maybe their confidence is going down a bit. but who knows? its an open ending, which i hate.

i just hated those two girls(i just do), especially the one with the thick makeup, their predictions of them two breaking up are utterly useless. after what they fought for, do they think they'd break up for the child she sent to adoption and for the guys mother? daisuke and hinako are strong. they witnessed it themselves.

and anyways, i dont think its a sad ending! the only reason why people consider it sad is cause they dont know for certain if theyre gonna be together for as much as they can. of course thats what i want! thats why i just wanna know the mangaka's opinion on how and why she ended it that way. and how does she think its going to end for them.. since technically she wrote it.

i dont want to think that the ending is sad, even though they'll break up.. one is gonna be healed, one is gonna be matured. in my view, theyre going to be alright. cos i know she'll heal and he'll mature wink hahahaha! i believe in them! biggrin

if some of you were asking if the relationship they have would really work in the real world, trust me, there are worser situations. their situation was bad enough.

EDIT: I checked some more on this manga, it seemed that the reason for the sudden ending wasnt really because the mangaka wanted to, apparently because she had to. FOrgot the reason, all she did was to find a suitable ending, not a perfect one. Im not sure, but thats what I read from some other site.
