If scanlators all waited on 100% surety, the number of scanlated manga would plummet. Not everyone knows if they can finish every unpaid hobby project they start doing...

Besides, sometimes all a series needs is someone to pick it up and get it noticed. Even if the original scanlator drops out, the rest of it often gets picked up by someone else.

Let's discuss scanlator stupidity only with people who have actually scanlated and understand why things are done the way they are. So far the only stupidity I see is certain individuals making judgments about a topic they're clueless about.

Quote from Chaoskitty

... You've never scanlated have you.

Lol totally agree with that one. I don't think all groups are like this though. Especially for the bigger ones with many staff, a lot of the time you will find that people just go poof. This is because they get bored with scanlating or are just simply too busy. I think a lot of people forget that those who help with scanlating do it as a hobby. Most are students and work full time and only scanlate in their free time.\

Also, a lot of this issue can be attributed to the fangurls who at times, borderline harass groups "when are you releasing this" and such. Most of them don't bother to help but just bitch about how slow the releases are. This turns off a lot of people who scanlate because they do it for fun and share some great manga with everyone, not to receive mails about how slow they are

@madgamer92: Damn right, the 28th Amendment states "Scanlators shall execute their duties until madgamer92 says so. No other consideration shall be given"
