well i just wanna say that viz has outstripped tokyopop as the worst english manga publisher. and i thought ikki tousen was bad (well its still worse come to think of it)

in fact, commercial translations suck ass all the time with the exception of black lagoon. but that only works because the people are supposed to be speaking english. but i still only rad it raw.

but good for viz promoting one piece 🙂

I think that's the reason many people read manga online. They don't want to buy a manga if its censored.

they better not skip skypiea. It has some of the best Usopp moments in the entire series. First there was him dodging Enel's attack by doing some crazy ass double sommersault barrel-roll only to end up with a face full of ship and the loudest scream never heard. 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

Pretty sure Tokyopop still sucks worse than everything else in existence. They owe me my full metal panic novels, those morons decided to delay the next novel by 2 years for no freakin reason.

Atleast it didn't get dropped prematurely like Kino no Tabi. The translation was actually well done for once, and what do they do. Nothing, and I have several reservations about 12 kingdoms, but my love for that franchise wins over their crappy translation. TP also has this thing about renaming a series sometimes at random it seems.

So any mistakes Viz has made pale in comparison to the things they've done right. I can't help but imagine that some of their trip-ups happened because their parent company, the one in Japan, doesn't really understand the foreign us market as well they like to think they do. Toei made the same mistake when they let 4kids eviscerate one of the most profitable series (One Piece) ever to come out of Japan, and turn it to crap.

yeah but right now, viz is making tokyopop level mistakes. but tokyopop has licensed some very crappy series and delayed/dropped some of the better ones.
why the hell am i even thinking about this? this is like the nerdiest manga forum on this side of the pacific ocean. we all read scanlations and dont buy from tokyopop
