A comment was made here in the forums about how women aren't interested in hentai, and how any woman that claims she's interested in hentai is lying.

This really bothered me, since I'm female and I love my hentai. It's a disturbingly common misconception that there aren't any women who like hentai. I'd like to correct that misconception today.

While I'm a lesbian and naturally tend to read hentai with yuri content, I enjoy straight hentai as well. There are other women who also read hentai of various kinds. After all, hentai is just another form of porn, and porn is a representation of sex. There is hardly anyone alive, male or female, that isn't interested in sex. Ergo, just as there are men who like hentai, there are also women that like hentai.

I think it's just a matter of taste, rather than a matter of gender. Some people can get into illustrated pornography, and some people can't. There are guys who think that hentai is ridiculous. A lot of women think so, too. I don't think it's necessarily a gender thing.

That said, many societies actively discourage women from being openly interested in sex, so naturally there are fewer women who express their fondness for hentai, and there are some women who will simply never try it out because of that. It's a real pity. But that doesn't mean there aren't any women out there who don't like hentai. It's awfully presumptuous to say so!

I think part of the reason yaoi has become so popular is because it's like hentai for the female readership, particularly the straight female readership. Most hentai tends to eroticize women, while yaoi eroticizes men -- so naturally many women will be interested in yaoi. But hey, there are those of us that also like hentai. It's true that I'm a dyke, but a lot of female hentai fans are perfectly straight! Hot porn is hot porn, hentai or otherwise. A lot of people, regardless of gender, are bound to enjoy it.

Just my two cents. For heaven's sake, ladies, if you're out there, speak up! Don't be shy to admit that you like porn as much as the men do!

you know whats really funny about this. the last thing we did in health a week ago was discus stereotypes which included gender stereotypes. but anyways the person i talk to about hentai is girl so it doesnt surprise me that their're girls who read/watch hentai. wow i now know a lesbien along with that bisexaul guy who was on my track team and the two gay guys my sister know

Hi, Veltwolfsleer! I'm happy to meet an open-minded person like you. You're lucky that you have a friend you can talk to about hentai. Most of my friends are quite fond of real-life porn, but they think I'm a little weird for liking hentai. They think I still haven't outgrown my fondness for cartoons.

So what kind of gender stereotypes did you discuss in your health class? I'm curious, since gender issues have always interested me.

you know the usaul ones like girls are weaker guys are too impulsive. and how girls are always concerned about fashion now that was bull shit when your in a class with the majority of the guys being preps excluding me . and i dont mean regular prep but the ones who start screaming when thier shoes get dirty and what was even more funny was that the guy that brought it up was one of those preps. then we split the class into 2 groups one of all boys and the other of all girls; and we made a list of pro's and cons about being the other sex.

Well I have to say that I am a female that is not into Hentai at all, for various reasons. But that just my personal view, and I am sure that there are plenty ladies that are interested in hentai (or porn in general) and not lying. That's rather presumptious.
Heck, alot of the 'romance' novels that load the shelves in book stores - though written word - get pretty darn graphic! Like soft porn. How many women of all types read those??

This is exactly what was meant by mellow on that earlier comment. He wasn't suggesting that there couldn't be a women that likes hentai and/or pr0n but he was more surprised that there was actually a girl on the internet. Which by definition has a higher than 75% chances to be just a guy pretending to be a girl.
Well, it was more of a joke you, know and a running gag on the internet. So you didn't really have to take it seriously.
On the matter of girls liking hentai or not... well I can't help I'm not a girl, but from what I know of them... They are even bigger pervs than us guys, they can just hide it better.
(And well guys do have a problem controlling themselves... I guess that when the blood goes down to do something, there isn't enough blood left in the head to think clearly)

gender issues trip me out too. which kind of pissed me off when my sociology class last semester only talked about gender for a week. the rest of the time they explain how me, the white male, basically destroyed the universe

it makes me wonder how people would turn out if we werent brought up in a world that teaches gender from birth. i mean seriously people get annoyed if theyre newborn baby wears pink instead of blue or plays with a truck instead of a doll

but on topic, ive yet to find many girls that are really into manga/anime, let alone hentai. tho i did know one girl who loved her some yaoi

I'm a girl and i sometimes read hentai, especially when it is one of my fave titles. Mostly doujinshis then i delete it so that my lil sis can't read it. I also brought the negima doujinshi - it was 18+ btw ^_^;

there are a lot of women who are interested in hentai. most tend to lesbians but they do exist. go to a anime/manga convention, and check out the hentai section. you'll probably see more women then men there at times...i know i did.

I don't normally post, but pearlesque, you bring up topics that I have to voice my opinion on! Yes, I also enjoy hentai and prefer yuri (maybe because I'm bi?). I've also been accused of not outgrowing my fascination with cartoons, but I love the drawn representation of the world. It lends a particular atmosphere that is often lacking in real life.

Although it depends on the hentai and the story. I accidentally downloaded some guro (not sure if that's the right term), and it practically turned my hair white. Very disturbing stuff, so I've become much more careful.

I've always had a *healthy* interest in porn, but find that most women find the subject shocking. Perhaps it is social conditioning. If so, how did we, the women who enjoy hentai and porn, break it?
