why wouldn't i like hentai? hentai is good as long as it is not full of giant boobs or it is made for only males.

I think many women read yaoi instead of hentai because the art of the former appeals to them more. A lot of hentai just have ugly drawn characters IMO. The authors ONLY have the pervy weird Japanese male reader in mind when drawing them and that's a fact. I am sure many straight women, like me, would rather read straight erotica rather than yaoi. It's not that women are not open about their sexuality. It's that when they are after hot guys (of course I am after hot guys otherwise what do I read it for?) they can only find them in yaoi (and not all of them. Many yaoi are badly drawn too). That's a bit sad. Nowadays I will only read yaoi when the story is reasonable and the characters believable (which is rare to be honest). I am not after the sex/smut/porn parts unless it's shotacon without adult males but that's not common either.

And most of the shoujo/josei smut manga are boring and cliched. That's why I avoid them too. I wonder why they don't add the common fanservice in shounen to shoujo, like naked bishies, bishie panty shots, bishies in hot springs, bishies being groped by girls, etc. I feel that many shoujo manga are sending a certain same message to girls. Those things are probably not in agreement with that. That's why we rarely find them in shoujo manga. There are some half naked guys in josei and that's it while you can find full frontal nude women/lolis in seinen.

Also if something has good art (with hot bishies like in some yaoi/shounen/shoujo/seinen/josei manga and no super huge breasts) and is not violent and treating women like crap, I will probably try it. However, it seems to be rare in hentai (not into yuri. I know some yuri have good art.). There are actually many things they can do in hentai (such as the backdoor - girls can play with their male partners ones, right?).

Actually the straight hentai manga I've found good are usually shotacon. Isn' that ironic (I do like shotacon though)?

I know a lot of women are into porn. I think people have different reasons for liking/disliking something. It's more of a taste thing than cutural thing. I don't like porn (I mean the Hollywood mainstream porn) because I can't find hot guys in them (give me hot bishies and shota XD). The actors are ugly, sorry. I find my boyfriend being even less interested in porn than I am. I've heard many people saying good things about amateur porn made by real life couples. Are they really that good? Don't think I have that much time to study them (too busy watching normal films instead). lol

That might be a bit harsh, but yeah more Yoai have Shoujuo style drawing and good looking guys.

I don't know, I think Hentai usually has pretty art. Since Hentai is porn, and it has to be visually pleasing after all. So they make up for the lack of plot by detailed art, though that's not always the case. And you're right, most Hentai are targeted at men, so they make the main lead guy loser-ish so that the male reader can identify himself with that character and make them believe that they have an off-slight chance that it'll actually happen to him too, heh.

Yamatogawa, Kisaragi Gunma and Shiwasu no Okina are one of the more women-friendly(?) Hentai mangaka around, I think. 🤣

I don't care whether the guy is a loser as long as he has a whacky sense of humor. Losers can be fun if you are creative enough (but that's rare in manga). I find W Name pretty funny but it's not hentai.

If I don't like the drawing style and characters design, I won't consider it well-drawn and waste my time on it (Saiyuki's author's drawing style pops into my mind. I never finished her stories since I don't like the style). Simple as that. Yeah, that's preference.
