when i hit teenage years i started to find i got tired a lot less, so i'd stay up late during vacation and weekends reading manga, watching anime, reading or playing video games. in particular summer vacation my body clock has gotten really screwed up.
my parents don't really mind. i wouldn't stay up late on a school night because it's unbearable being tired at school. but weekends and vacations i'll stay up as late as i want, and usually go to bed only when i am tired, although it's very easy to not realise when i am in the midst of a manga/game/novel obsession.

When I was 14, but then I only stayed past 11pm on holidays.
Now it's become a habit and I stay up around 12pm even on school days. During holidays, I turn into a semi-nocturnal creature. X___X

I never really had a bed time. It depended on my company and if that company thought I was being a bother, too young for the conversation, or if I had school. Around the age of 8 was when I made it my choice to stay up late, out of everyone's way. I had a computer in my bedroom, which explains it completely.
I guess I was 13 or so, when my parents stopped making me go to bed and let me make my own choices. I can't say I always made good ones.
Around when I was 11, I started reading manga online.. and I just couldn't sleep until 2-3 am.

When I was in 6th grade. So when I was like 11.
I was home schooled and you eventually get into that weird sleeping period where you like sleep during the day and stay up at night.
So, my schedule was like i was awake between 6:00pm to 9:00am.
Now i go to bed at like 1:00am, since im in school again.

14 i think, Diablo 2 and Dark age of camelot were at fault bad bad game ! but only on hollyday.
Well now i don't realy have a time to wake up or go to sleep ( day or night not a problem ) so staying up late i don't have any more maning for me. Teh only thing i do more often now and i can still call staying up late is juste a white night ( that i will do 3 or 4 time this week because of work: )

Haha! I can so relate.
My parents were pretty strict with the whole bedtime rules because I had younger siblings and they tend to copy what I did, so until I started working seriously (around 15) I had a bedtime of no later than 10 pm.
After that, I moved into the room above the garage and was pretty much cut off from everyone, so I went to bed when I felt like it.

I started staying up late at around sixth grade, when I was about 11-12 years old because I procrastinated on my homework.
Now, it's a habit of mine to sleep around 12 AM. xP

Well, my parents stopped sending me to bed when I'd wish them good-night and head to my bedroom before my actual "bedtime". Course, once there, I'd read until well after said "bedtime" but whatever. I think I was in high school before I finally worked out how to get away with that...cut me some slack. I'm still the sort of person that takes "honor thy father and mother" seriously (even at 20) and to top that off, my dad was career military...I'm also strange in that I like getting up early and need more than a few hours of sleep.
As for staying up late...I'm not quite sure I've done that yet, minus New Years Eve and a handful of Apples to Apples games that've lasted until I kicked my friends out around 3am.
