So I kno MU and AU are affilated but how? Is the creator the same person? Are the moderators the same? Are the communities the same? I've never really used the anime updates forum b4 and I find the anime updates actual site not nearly as comprehensive or sophisticated as MU.

not really. Anime Baka is way less comprehensive and harder to find what one is looking for.

Agreed. I found A/BU more troublesome to get around, as well.

Well the formatting is the same, and their both Baka Updates. I think they were created by the same designers, but run by different people who have different objectives.

ie. Coke and Diet Coke department. Lol

From what I know

MU is a branch of BU

But the web designer is different. Manick doesn't work in BU, that's why our site is way better.

Why don't you just check "About Us" on the right menu for both BU and MU? 😐

BU came first, then MU was founded a year later. Manick was originally a site coder for BU (and he still is), but he moved on to found the manga side you're in right now. The coding for BU is actually headed by someone else (who is currently...hard to find...), which is why you don't see as many site updates/new features over at the anime side. Here, Manick has basically free reign to do stuff (which isn't the case at BU).

Also, MU is more user friendly and made to take user input. Users can change/add stuff, while admins only moderate them. Over at BU, admins (or "updaters") are the only ones allowed to add stuff. Everything else is done on IRC. so BU is more IRC-based, while MU is more site-based (at least for new releases)

Trivia: Manick and I are the only two staff that are shared between both sites

thank you lambchopsil for clearing up that discrepancy.

This side is more active. The other side is spammed more often.

Well, this side has seen a lot more growth too. Part of that is because of Manick's new features, like the lists. The other part of it is that MangaUpdates doesn't have as much competition as Baka-Updates. There are basically only 2 other manga sites like this one, MangaNews/MangaJouhou and DailyManga. Most people would agree this one is the best of the three
