Canada has free health care...paid for by high taxes. Still a better system than the US has, I think.

It is the truth, not just an opinion. 🙂

I don't know enough about it to state it as "the truth"! 🤣
From what I hear, Canada has some issues with having to wait a long time to see the Dr., etc. so it's not a perfect system. Still...medical care here (US) is way too freaking expensive. 🤢

Well, it is better to wait and get than having to have a qualification for the care.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean...are you talking about needing to get a referral from your regular doctor before you can see a specialist? If so, that's something some insurance companies require before they'll pay for it (or partly pay for it). If you're willing/able to pay for the specialist yourself, then you don't need to wait for any kind of referral, just call & make the appointment. But then of course you get stuck paying the entire bill. 🤢

yeah.. because doctors get paid more in US, so they usually go to US. Then, Canada is left with only a few doctors.

And Canada has really little* specialists, because it's hard to train a specialist. And Canada doesn't recognize other countries' doctors' certificates (they have to go through this really hard test?) so... we have few doctors 😢

*I forgot to put that word in..

I think he meant that it's better to wait and eventually get some care from a doctor for free.. instead of paying a lot for the care..

Ok our care system works like this: we can go to the doctor and get a checkup for free if its a serious surgery almost all of it is covered by health care. The long lines are in hospitals because you get idiots who sprained the thumb and go to a doctor, because its freaking free. But mostly you deal with your family doctor and the line is not long at all. The long lines are in big hospitals usually. Also the problem with the lines is that people book surgeries 6-8 months in advance. I think thats it mostly. Correct me if I'm wrong. So if its something your family doctor can handle then you have no problem whatsoever getting it done withing a day or two max. Only serious ailments take time to book for surgeries.

By the way you phobia is so big that keeps you from taking a dive?

If you're referring to my possible thalassophobia, it means that I'm afraid of the ocean.

Yes I know, but it keeps you from entering the sea os just from boat travelling?

🤣 I'm not totally scared of it. Just prefer not to go in, especially when it gets uber deep. This was triggered by a "near death" experience that I had. Oh, and I'm fine with boats 🙂

I think it also works like that in Belgium.. 😃 Kinda..

The problem with the lack of doctors in Canada, in Quebec at least (I have no idea about Ontario) isn't because doctors go to the US to work or because foreign doctors find the test hard.

It's because the "collège des médecins" is like a mafia here. They're reducing the number of doctors on purpose so that it would cause a rise in demand for a low supply => high salaries.
They're only recruiting like a few doctors a year while they already know they're lacking them really bad. So bad that some people have to wait a month for a broken arm. By that time it has mostly healed already on it's own... and probably not the right way.
And for foreign doctors, the test isn't really hard... but the fact that they require a test (and 2 years back at med school!!!) of someone with 15 years of medical experience, and thousands of published articles in highly recognized medical journals, certainly doesn't make them want to move from where they already are recognized as good doctors to someplace where they'd be looked down on...

Ok and we should get back to the subject of self diagnosis...
I only did so once... and it was just to put a name on something I knew I had since I was born:
Sectoral heterochromia.

I know a few people with that. It's kinda cool!

also, there was an article of this lady in the National Geographic who had like..the most beautiful eyes ever. The looked like there were flowers inside a mixture of sky blue(base) and yellow(near the iris) but I don't think its the same condition >_>

Wow, pretty cool.. 😃 Just like Yuna from FFX.. Though I've seen some pictures where it does not look cool..

I remember that.. 😲 I think.. It was about some beautiful girl with really pretty eyes.. They took a photo of her.. Then x years later, they were so intrigued about this girl..

That they went out to look for her.. Though I'm not sure if that's the same girl you meant..

@Skittles: Why chocolate..? 🤣 😛
