Never again. Once I've checked the results of someone's medical tests (in a latin dictionary, as the diagnose is usually written in latin) and it was cancer. So no, I won't ever look for any info about a disease again.

I've read once that about 35-37 % of people are mentally ill. After spending few months here on MU I wonder where did that 65% go... laugh

Partly. In Psychology classes my lecturers always throw terms, case studies and names at us, so I usually check them on google/wikipedia. And the scary thing is - most descriptions fit me laugh But it's normal, this way psychoanalists make their money - they fit the description to symptoms which patient gives. According to most of the lecturers, anyway.

I've tried it a couple times, but I tend to be wrong, for example what I thought might be carpal tunnel turned out to be thoracic outlet syndrome.

The internet really is much more useful for finding more information after you're diagnosed, than finding a diagnosis. eyes Mostly I just scare myself & then the symptoms go away on their own.

I've gone and checked my symptoms at sites like webmd.com and such to see what I might be allergic to, but recently I heard on the radio that actual doctors hate websites like that. It's not that the sites are bad (they're pretty good, from what I hear) but that people have a tendency to mis-diagnose themselves and try to treat it, making what they actually have worse than it could have been if they had just gone to a real doctor in the first place. TofuQueen sound right, the sites are better for treatments and telling you what to do if you know what you have and not just what you might have.

Does 'illness' include phobias? If so, yes eyes (I mean, phobias are an illness of the mind...or something like that bigrazz )

If not, then I don't think so sad

I think phobias could count. After all, you first had to analyze your symptoms, no? That's the first step of a diagnosis, so yeah. I haven't tried my phobias yet but I think I'm arachnophobic and thalassophobic...and maybe more :S

If phobies count then I diagosed myself to be acrophobic, claustophobic, glossophobic and catagelophobic.
By the way you phobia is so big that keeps you from taking a dive?

If you're referring to my possible thalassophobia, it means that I'm afraid of the ocean.
